Role Summary

The primary role of this post is to provide admin/secretarial support for the department of Clinical Technology. The post holder will be expected to answer the department’s helpdesk recording detailed information from clinical and non-clinical users. This will involve liaising with other departments to support various processes and other activities in relation to the administration of medical device management. Such as raising purchase orders, invoicing and scanning of records, dealing with general enquiries, sending/receiving/sorting of deliveries, conducting data/stock audits and other activities in relation to the administration of medical device management.

Additionally the role includes providing support to the management of medical devices by means of assisting in our Medical Equipment Library, auditing of equipment around the site, relocation of equipment within UHNM, and other activities assisting and contributing to the management of medical equipment within the Trust as required by the department.

The post holder will be based at County Hospital and is expected to work flexibly at Royal Stoke University Hospital, or other UHNM locations when requested.
- Exchange written, electronic, and verbal information with other departments internal and external to the Trust and its service users including patients.
- Input alphanumerical data in databases and use Microsoft Office software packages.
- Support the department’s helpline, ensuring that calls are made, received and transferred according to procedures.
- Taking of and relaying messages accurately and in a timely manner.
- Communicate equipment related information to colleagues and non-technical staff.
- Manage their own work load in order to achieve objectives and targets while always having access to supervisory advice and guidance, sometimes remotely.
- Contribute to effective communication and working relationships within the Clinical Technology team.
- Assist in the planning and organisation of the equipment audit programme under the direction of the data quality officer.
- Have a range of movement dexterity and manipulation commensurate with the moving and handling of medical equipment.
- Enter clinical environments, wards and departments for the purpose of collecting and delivering medical devices to clinical staff.
- Contribute to the safe use of medical equipment managed by the department with particular emphasis on the equipment library.

**The post holder is expected to participate in**:

- A frequent requirement for light physical effort, occasionally moderate.
- Moving and handling medical equipment.
- Being responsible for coordinating staff and day to day activities within the equipment library.
- Ensuring that any departmental databases or information systems are updated in line with departmental procedures.
- Frequently carrying out a range of office duties with a requirement for sitting or standing for extended periods.
- Providing general non-clinical advice, information and guidance to service users.
- Occasionally travelling between Acute and Community locations.
- Attending other UHNM sites as requested for the start of their shift.
- Commenting on proposed changes to departmental policies, procedures.
- Proposing changes to working practice, where appropriate, in own area of work.
- Taking part in surveys e.g. staff attitude surveys as required.
- Undertaking both general and specific training within the organisation and elsewhere. This may involve travelling and residing away from home.
