Do you want to work in a sonography service that excels in its service delivery? This is a great opportunity for an experienced, highly committed Midwifery Sonographer to become the Obstetric Lead Sonographer within the Antenatal services at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful person will be responsible for the line management of the Midwife Sonography team, working closely with the Non-Obstetric Lead Sonographer and associated teams to deliver all aspects of ultrasound services. Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of antenatal services at NUH which will include:

- A 24-hour responsibility for managing staff and budgets for the Midwife Scan Team.
- Ensure that the standards and quality of care given are maintained to a high standard
- Be an effective leader and role model providing regular direct clinical care, in addition to ensuring effective use of non-clinical time to support the implementation of both clinical and non-clinical governance and to modernise antenatal service provision.
- Work flexibly as a member of the Antenatal services team to ensure standards are being maintained, evaluated and where necessary improved.
- Contribute to the work of time limited committees and project groups.
- Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Perform, analyse and report findings of 2nd & 3rd trimester ultrasound scans, developing care plans where appropriate.

Act as Mentor to any Trainee Midwife Sonographers, ensuring attendance at Mentor Workshops provided by University of Derby, as well as completion of all required assessments and documentation.

Act as an expert resource for the multi-professional team, maternity service, Division and Trust.

***Be visible, accessible and assertive, co-ordinating all aspects of patient care and staff management.

Be a visible point of contact for patients, visitors and all the MDT, acting as a resource for problems and needs

Proactively seek feedback on patient and public experiences and act on recommendations as required

Monitor the quality of patient care and ensure the highest standards of patient care (bench marking) are in place and reviewed accordingly. Devise clear action plans to address any care deficiencies and ensure agreed actions are implemented and evaluated.

Respond promptly to emerging clinical needs, complaints, and incidents and develop and participate in appropriate action plans in line with clinical governance.

In conjunction with midwifery staff ensure the midwifery records and documentation is maintained in accordance with NMC 'Guidelines for Records and Record Keeping'.

Lead and facilitate the development of clinical guidelines, protocols and patient care policies and procedures utilising benchmarking, risk assessments and best practice guidelines. Implement and ensure best practice is embedded within care delivery. Actively encourage the use of clinical information to improve the quality of patient care

Work within the Trust's guidance laid down by the 'Working in New Ways' cross town working group, developing and establishing new procedures when required in accordance with the NMC 'Scope of Professional Practice
