**Job summary**:
All roles sit within the Sport and Gambling Directorate responsible for all aspects of Government sport and gambling policy. Ranging from elite sport and hosting of major events to grassroots participation and promoting diversity and inclusion across the world of sport.

The Sport Team is responsible for delivering the Government’s recent Get Active sport strategy, as well as governance and co-ordination of sport in the UK. Our team stretches across many policy areas. The sport strategy side of the team focuses on getting more people active and moving towards a more diverse, inclusive and sustainable sector. The elite and international side of the team aims to ensure we continue to support the UK’s thriving professional, Olympic and Paralympic sectors, and plays an active and influential role in international sport policy.

**Job description**:
Responsibilities will include:

- Driving progress against Review of Women’s Football recommendations; identifying policy development opportunities, escalating challenges, pushing towards milestones, updating Ministerial teams and key stakeholders in a timely manner
- Full management of the strategy, establishment and maintenance of Ministerial-led Implementation group to progress work in Women’s Football
- Proactive engagement with internal and external stakeholders, building and maintaining relationships
- Identifying future opportunities for Government to support the women’s sporting industry, announcements and engagement, both for officials and Ministerial level
- Establishment of a Board of Women’s Sport; development and identification of priorities; design of content remaining aware of policy issues and broader industry / political awareness; management of stakeholder relationships; proactively identifying and leading on outcomes of the board and, where/if required, driving for new or altered policy
- Broader sport engagement; proactive reach out to industry contacts, representation of the department at networking events
- Identification of opportunities within industry; proactively seeking events, speech, roundtable opportunities for officials and Ministers; remaining abreast of the industry and stakeholder activities
- Work in collaboration on cross-cutting government policy areas; eg, Department for Business & Trade on Women’s Sport investment, International on sharing best practices

**Person specification**:
Essential Requirements:

- Particular interest in and understanding of the sport sector.
- Experience working collaboratively to achieve a desired outcome.
- Outstanding stakeholder management skills with strong evidence of working in partnership with other individuals and organisations.
- Experience and understanding the development and delivery of policy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, ability to confidently deliver messages at very senior levels.

Desirable Skills:

- Understanding of government and parliamentary processes.
- Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple high profile projects.
