The post holder will provide excellent business management support for the terrestrial NCEA programme, working alongside the NCEA Programme Manager, Managers and Project Managers implementing a robust management approach using appropriate tools, monitoring progress, supporting the technical team and communicating this with DEFRA and other partners.

The post holder will need to show flexibility in taking on and managing other work should team priorities or resources change.

**As a Business Support Adviser your main responsibilities would be**:

- Tracking programme resources (including workforce and recruitment planning) and budget management, and where necessary specify and commission activities with partners and contractors ensuring Government procurement standards are met.
- Monitoring the external programme budget, identifying changes to expected spend and escalating or reallocating budget if appropriate. Work with finance leads (FINCOs) in the hub to meet monthly financial reporting requirements, such as correction journals and salary adjustments, and provide detailed budget breakdowns for reporting to Defra.
- Supporting the Programme Managers with coordinating NCEA contribution to annual Business Planning within Natural England and contributing to Natural England Investment Committee Business Case submissions.
- Assisting with reporting progress of the project alongside the Programme Managers to both Natural England and Defra through Performance Indicators, against milestones and deliverables.
- Working with the Programme Managers to monitor and actively manage issues and risks to the programme, and ensure risk registers for the NCEA Programme, Natural England and Defra are regularly updated.

**You’ll have relevant experience in**:

- Project management
- Financial management processes and tools (budget forecasting, profiling & monitoring)
- Project delivery and simultaneous management of multiple complex projects with multiple stakeholders
- Working with and functionally leading others to achieve joint outcomes

**Skills**:

- Good written and verbal communications
- Competent in the use of IT, particularly spreadsheets and MS Project- Please be aware that this role can only be worked within the UK and not Overseas._
