**Dimensions**: The post is of primary importance in the delivery of the educational contract for Undergraduate education. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the educational contract for Medical Education between the Trust and Health Education England KSS (HE KSS) are fulfilled and that educational targets within the contract are met. This requires the post holder to work together and communicate with staff in Acute Trusts, Mental Health Trusts and Medical Schools within the London and KSS Region. The post holder will be regularly responsible for providing training placements for medical students in the specialty of Psychiatry in Kent.

**Budgetary**: Service Increment for Teaching (SIFT) budget. The post holder will be expected to monitor SIFT expenditure where applicable and report this to the Medical Education Manager. Manpower 1 WTE. Responsibility for the education and training of medical students on placement in Dartford, Medway, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and East Kent who will be undertaking block rotations in Psychiatry.

The medical students will be received from Kent and Medway Medical School. RESPONSIBILITY: Works with the Director of Medical Education, Medical Education Manager, and Undergraduate Tutors to evaluate and develop medical education. Ensuring this is done within the framework of the Educational Contract. Responsible for the comprehensive, day to day administrative support of Undergraduate education services to year 5 Kent and Medway Medical School Students completing their psychiatry block.

Supporting the team to deliver administrative support of undergraduate education services for the year 3 KMMS students completing their Psychiatry module. Responsible for the effective management of records in Undergraduate. Ensuring that procedures are in place to allocate medical students to training posts and that appropriate records are maintained internally and externally on Medical School Databases. Responsible for analysing and evaluating activity and performance in order to continually improve the quality of Medical Education in all service areas.

Responsible for the re ordering of stock and office supplies. Communication skills, both oral and written required. Should be skilled at problem solving and have the ability to be both innovative and creative. Effective Planning and organisational skills Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads and plan to meet deadlines Ability to be flexible and work in a team To assist with the negotiation with consultants across the trust to find agreement for each students clinical placement.

Ability to implement and communicate new directives or changes for student management. Coordinate and prepare detailed complex timetables for medical student attachments by working closely with the Undergraduate Lead. Monitor medical student progress on the programme and report on assessments, supervisor meetings and attendance. Liaise with Educational Supervisors and Medical schools to arrange electives and tasters placement for UK and International students and junior doctors.

Help to maintain the Qualified Educational Supervisors register. Provide Ad hoc project management as required Provide senior staff with data/reports as required. Take the role as a specialist expert within undergraduate education, advising and supporting all healthcare educators and external stakeholders. Promote a positive learning environment and an analytical approach to the provision of formal education and educational opportunities within clinical placements.

Support with the organisation of Medical Education events at external venues. Ensure rooms are booked for undergraduate teaching sessions and registers and feedback forms are produced for each teaching session Attend review meetings with individual trainees and the UG Tutor, offer pastoral support and deal with any issues the medical students may have. Prepare and deliver an Induction Programme for each new group of medical students in line with Medical School and Trust policies and procedures. Ensure they have clearance from Occupational Health, can access accommodation, IT passwords, ID Badges and are aware of the limitations on their practice.

Prepare an induction pack for each new student. To assist with the creation of placement evaluation forms for completion by each student at the end of the placement at the hospital, and to monitor and collate these, sending copies to consultants for feedback. To assist with the setting up of undergraduate meetings, providing agendas, taking and preparing minutes for circulation and preparing rooms and equipment. To work with and keep the Undergraduate Lead informed and updated on all student matters, especially concerning any problems and complaints, any clinical or non-clinical incidents, any requests for teaching, and matters relating to the wellbeing of students regarding their accommodation.
