Are you an experienced accounts payable professional seeking a new challenge in Chichester? We are currently recruiting for a Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our client's finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a dynamic environment and contribute to the smooth running of our client's operations.

**Main Purpose**:
As a Purchase Ledger Clerk, your main responsibility will be to accurately process a high volume of supplier invoices into the accounting system and ensure timely payment to suppliers. You will also be responsible for reconciling supplier accounts, resolving queries, and providing support to the purchase ledger supervisor.

**Responsibilities**:

- Accurately post invoices against purchase orders and assist with resolving matching discrepancies.
- Process supplier invoices and debit/credit notes in accordance with internal policies and external requirements.
- Obtain authorisation and coding for non-purchase order invoices before inputting into the ERP system.
- Reconcile supplier statements regularly and resolve any queries as appropriate.
- Investigate and resolve purchase ledger queries by liaising with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Provide relevant information to the Management Accountant to facilitate month-end closing.
- Process staff expenses and credit card transactions, reconciling to statements where applicable.
- Ensure accurate and timely electronic filing of documents.
- Assist the Finance team with other projects as required.

**Person Specification**:
**Qualifications/Education/Experience**:

- At least 2 years’ accounts payable experience preferred.
- Experience in a multi-site business with a high volume of transactions is essential.

**Skills & Competencies**:

- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and competent with ERP systems.
- Basic accounting knowledge (double entry book-keeping; accounts reconciliation) is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with business and external partners.
- Excellent communication skills, including telephone manners and ability to influence others.
- High level of customer service awareness.
