Management/ Service DevelopmentTo lead and manage AHP/Nurse staff within the Community post Covid service, providing effective guidance, supervision and performance management including the education and management of students on practice placements.To contribute to the Trusts, Directorates and Teams Clinical Governance and Quality assurance programmes, setting and monitoring practice standards, jointly developing guidelines and protocols in liaison with multi-disciplinary colleagues.To inform senior management of changes in clinical practice which may influence service delivery, business planning and strategic reviews to support the delivery of the service.Establish service priorities and contribute to the development of the service including liaison with UCLH Post Covid Clinic and across NCL Community Teams, GPs, Pain Team and Long-term conditions teams.Be actively involved in service development through quality and clinical audit.To ensure own and others maintain accurate and up to date records of all professional interactions, decisions taken, related statistical information are kept and reported in accordance with Whittington Health and North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust policies.To participate as required in the recruitment selection and induction of other staff.To lead in the operational planning and implementation of quality improvement and service development within long Covid specific projects.To be responsible for optimising use of clinical staff and resources to ensure activity targets and trust and department efficiency and sustainability agendas are met.To lead on the development of strategies, to manage timely service provision and management of clinical priorities including when needs change.To attend regular meetings with those working in long Covid rehabilitation and those who interface with the pathway to create positive active partnerships in the best interests of those with long Covid.ClinicalThe post holder will practise in compliance with their code of professional conduct and within their scope of practice, being responsible and accountable for their decisions and actions at this level of practice.Use expertise and decision-making skills to inform clinical reasoning approaches when dealing with clients with complex presentation long term conditions, complex situations and be able to independently evaluate progress and adapt intervention as necessary.To have expert knowledge in the physical and mental health conditions that commonly are seen in those with long Covid diagnosis and to keep abreast of changes in this newly emerging clinical area.Carry out competent risk assessments when indicated for the psychological wellbeing of patients.Maintain accurate and up to date documentation for all of client caseload in interdisciplinary records.Be highly skilled in effective, sensitive, communication with patients with Long COVID, including discussion of sensitive information with clients and relevant parties. This will also include communication with patients where there is a language barrier.Be skilled in the management of clients in group settings such as symptom management programmes working closely with other members of the interdisciplinary team.Act as a resource for other members of the team in symptom management strategies relating to discipline specialty.Carrying out assessment and 1:1 treatment with clients with complex health, psychological and social needs requiring management of unpredictable situations, a problem-solving approach, empathy and negotiation skills.Ensuring that activity data is collected regularly and accurately, in line with Trust guidelines.Be responsible for developing written and multimedia resources in chronic fatigue for patients and the multidisciplinary team.Participate in and lead training in the management of Long COVID/Post-COVID 19 syndrome within the team, Long Term conditions teams, to GPs and other specialities/community organisations.Provide expert advice to educational establishments, workplaces and other community resources to promote clients successful (re) engagement in education / work / leisure in the community within appropriate professional capacity.Support, advise and provide education for patients and their carers as appropriate.Liaise with Whittington NHS Trust and North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust, external statutory and voluntary agencies to maximise engagement in the community. This may include providing advice / joint working on benefits and care plans.Allocate clinical workload appropriately to the team and prioritise effectively.Set a high personal standard of evidence-based practice and maintain up to date knowledge of clinical professional development in the field of occupational therapy and incorporate this appropriately into clinical practice.
