Being a support worker is about encouraging independence, supporting service users to build confidence, self-esteem and most importantly having fun. Your new role will be rewarding and fun, yet somewhat challenging - but the rewards you reap are extremely worthwhile.No two days will be the same
Exciting new opportunities in Whitehaven working with either adults or children who have a range of different complex needs. We are looking for support workers who are interested in both long term temporary and permanent roles.
This position is to assist in the support of the service users on an individual 1:1 basis or part of a team and help promote physical & emotional wellbeing and general health of the service users building on their feelings of security, responsibility and worth
**What you'll need to succeed**
- A minimum of 6 months experience within a similar care setting in the last 2 years
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 are desirable but not vital
- Experience and willingness to provide/assist with personal care when required (helping to wash, toilet, dress and assisting with meals).
- Experience in administering medication, preparing meals, and planning and partaking in activities
- Experience with providing support and care to children or adults with learning disabilities.
- Experience with dealing with challenging behaviour.
- Being passionate about supporting people with a genuine desire to make a real difference in people's lives
- Excellent communication skills with a positive attitude and the ability to be a good team player
