Vacancy Description

West Berkshire Council is seeking an experienced and dynamic Early Careers Business Partner to join our Talent Attraction Team based at the Market Street Offices. This is an exciting opportunity to play a crucial role in attracting and nurturing early talent within our organisation.

In the role you will report to the Talent Attraction Transformation Lead and work closely with other stakeholders to develop and implement strategies for the successful attraction, recruitment, and development of early careers talent.

This role will involve building strong relationships with local educational institutions, coordinating recruitment campaigns, attending, and hosting careers events and advising managers on best practices for early talent development.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop strategies to engage with universities, colleges, and other educational institutions to establish strong pipelines of early careers talent.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to tailor early careers programs that align with the organisation's needs and goals.
- Support the design and delivery of inclusive early careers programmes; including apprenticeships, graduate schemes and T-level placements.
- You will oversee and deliver "best practice" processes for apprenticeships across the Council; working closely Procurement and Legal teams, together with external providers to shape and improve our apprenticeship offering. Knowledge of DAS management would be advantageous.
- Create a strong calendar of events and award submissions to support our ambition to become a top employer of choice.
- Supporting the Talent Attraction Transformation Lead with work relating to the development and embedding of our EVP, employer branding and strategies to address our hard to fill roles.

Skills and Attributes:

- Previous experience in early careers recruitment and development, ideally within the public sector.
- Knowledge of best practices in early talent attraction, selection, and development.
- Strong relationship building and networking skills, with the ability to engage and interact with educational institutions and other stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence both internal and external stakeholders.
- Proactive and innovative approach, with the ability to take initiative and drive early talent initiatives forward.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
