**Job summary**:
The FCDO pursues our national interests and projects the UK as a force for good in the world. We promote the interests of British citizens, safeguard the UK's security, defend our values, reduce poverty and tackle global challenges with our international partners.

You will work effectively with policy officials, overseas FCDO posts, ministers’ private offices and special advisers to deliver high quality and timely communications in your geographic or thematic area.

Activity will include developing and delivering strategic communication plans for the Foreign Secretary and other Ministers, as well as media relations activity with both UK and international media. You will also be crafting the UK’s response to some of the highest-profile global news events, including responding to breaking news stories.

You will report into a Senior Communications Officer and will be required to deputise where needed in their absence. The job is varied and interesting and can be changeable depending on departmental and Foreign Secretary priorities.
