Request for Information Assurance Officer

The Request for Information Assurance Officer will contribute to the overall efficient and effective delivery of the Information Governance and Data Protection agenda, specifically in the area of Data Subject Access Requests (DSAR), Freedom of Information (FOI) and the Release of Information (RFI). The post-holder will work in liaison with the SAR & FOI Manager, Information Governance Manager, Information Governance Assurance Officer, and Freedom of Information Officers, ensuring that responses are accurate, compliant with current legislation and responded to with the specified timescales.

The post-holder will have a strong theoretical and practical understanding of GDPR/Data Protection Act 2018 and Freedom of Information Act 2000. To actively engage with and provide support and assistance to the SAR & FOI Manager with the effective management and leadership of the Request for Information team in the compliance of requests for information made under these legislations.
- Provide the day-to-day leadership to the Request for Information team, compromising of Facilitators and Administrators, ensuring compliance with mandatory and statutory training requirements, annual appraisals and monthly 1:1s, sickness and welfare support, annual leave approval.
- Assist with Request of Information escalations for resolution that the team cannot resolve.
- Provide a contact for all Request for Information escalations reported onto Datix by all Trust staff members.
- Responsible for the logging, preparing, redaction of disclosure schedules and maintaining complete and accurate records of all requests, ensuring that responses are accurate, timely and compliant with legislation, regulations, and policies.
- Provide high-level advice on requests to both internal and external stakeholders, whilst maintaining a keen awareness of sensitivities and legislations, which may prevent us from disclosing information.
- Maintain a process of compliance audits against the Data Security and Protection Toolkit standards and support the SAR & FOI manager on any external audits of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit by the Trust’s Internal Auditors.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Trust's Information Governance Team at East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust. You will be joining a busy team, providing support to SAR team.

It is essential you have experience working within an Information Governance team, and have a good understanding and knowledge of Data Protection.
