Our team at SPS have been fundamental to the principle of making a positive difference to healthcare within Somerset for 10 years and we have a new job opportunity for a Band 3 Medical Laboratory Assistant to support the processing of clinical specimens within our Histology department at Musgrove Park Hospital.

**Hours**: 37.5hrs / Mon-Fri / 7am-8pm (7.5hr shifts covering Early, Core and Late shifts)

**Responsibilities**:

- To prepare and process clinical specimens for Histological testing.
- To work within agreed quality standards of service delivery and turnaround times.
- To perform all designated duties in accordance with local working practices, to maintain high personal standards and conform to Health and Safety regulations.

**Essential Skills and Experience**:

- Good degree of accuracy & numeracy.
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of levels of staff within the laboratory and user organisations.
- Good developed interpersonal and team working abilities.

Additionally, for band 5 & 6 roles, where night shift is part of the role requirements, you will receive enhanced night shift payment. For Band 7 - 8c roles, a discretionary team performance bonus payment worth up to 5% of salary per annum._
