**Overview**:
We are currently recruiting for a NVQ Level 3 qualified Deputy Play Leader for our client's Kids Club in Harrogate. This role provides 30 hours per week during term time with the additional hours during school holidays.
**Role Purpose**
- Manages the daily running of the Kids Club in the absence of the Manager.
- Delivering a high-quality caring environment for children. This includes creating a warm, friendly, and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop emotionally, socially and educationally through individual attention and group activities.
- Support the Manager by managing their team and having a 'self-sufficient' Kids Club
- Managing the daily routine within their Kids Club
- Manage, encourage and support all staff that are working within the Kids Club
- Promote positive relationships in the early years' Kids Club
- Support the children's development, learning and play and ensure all staff members within the Kids Club are also doing this collectively.
- Be a Key Person carrying out all related responsibilities in building relationships with a small group of children and their families.
- Contribute to the effectiveness of teamwork.
- Be a role model and be able to showcase high quality practice with regards to individual and group work with children
- To take responsibility alongside the Manager for the safety, security and well-being of all children, staff, and visitors always.
- To ensure that safeguarding procedures are followed in line with Local Authority and Company Procedures
- To support the Kids Club in reaching an 'Outstanding' or 'Good' grade with Ofsted
- To embrace, understand and promote Kids at Heart and to understand the role you play as part of the team to provide high levels of care and education.

**Performance Requirements**
- To reinforce company policy and procedures at all times.
- Supports staff to maintain an excellent staff team and keeps morale high.
- Checks the Kids Club staff rota weekly in advance, in the absence of the Manager.
- Leads by example in all aspects of delivering high quality childcare.
- Be an advocate to promote our company ethos 'to be committed to meet and support the needs of individual children in a warm, enjoyable, stimulating environment'.
- Promote equality and diversity within the Kids Club, challenging any behaviour which does not support our inclusive practice.
- Sets activities for the children that provides a purposeful, stimulating environment.
- Actively encourages and supports all staff to ensure the daily routines are consistent.
- Is accountable and delegates work effectively for a smooth running of the Kids Club
- Has effective leadership skills.
- Follows up on both good and poor performance and manages individual staff performance within the Kids Club (with the support of the Manager)
- To promote Kids at Heart's commitment to safeguarding children by following the company's Safeguarding Policy and Procedure
- To be flexible within working practice of the Kids Club and be prepared to help where needed; including undertaking domestic jobs within the Kids Club e.g., preparing, serving of snacks cleaning of equipment, emptying the bins..
- Respond appropriately to issues regarding confidentiality.
- Works well as part of a team and the smooth running of the Kids Club
- Be aware of staff ratios in accordance with statutory regulations.

**Childcare**
- To provide all aspects of care which may include washing, changing, and assisting with the personal and emotional needs of individual children.
- Has an excellent understanding of 'Safeguarding' policies, procedures, and reporting?
- Actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people in the workplace ensuring staff and volunteers within the Kids Club observe Kids at Heart policies and Procedures to keep children safe from harm.
- To ensure that all children are treated as individuals and that we are supporting this through our approach to planning and delivery in line with the EYFS.
- To meet the physical needs of children by encouraging good standards of personal hygiene, whilst promoting independence
- To provide support for the children's emotional and social needs by implementing the principals for promoting positive behaviour and high standards in all aspects of their role and personal conduct
- To establish positive and sensitive relationships with children. To act as a role model.
- To promote the inclusion of all children
- To work with parents / carers of special needs children to give full integration in Kids at Heart
- To ensure the needs of all the children are met including those from differing cultures, religious backgrounds, and stages of development.
- To ensure standards and requirements are continuously being met in line with Kids at Heart Policies and Procedures, Ofsted requirements and the EYFS.
- Trial / implement changes to daily routines to suit the needs of the room.
- Ensure all children are signed in and out daily - ensure children attending extra or ad hoc sessions are also accounted for in the correct manner, report any anomalies to the Manager immediately.
