The key focus of our company is providing customs clearance to the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), food and beverages, fashion logistics, and construction and engineering sectors. Technical knowledge of the Customs Declaration Service (CDS) platform is essential, as is two years of experience in submitting customs declarations.

You must have good financial awareness, be interested in the UK's regulatory and policy framework, organised and punctual and have strong administrative and data entry skills. Experience in completing import and export declarations, and competent knowledge of UK customs compliance is essential.

**Role description**:
Using commercial invoices and packing lists provided to Alinea by Alinea’s clients, you will be required to enter all necessary data (including CPC codes, commodity codes, item descriptions, preference, AI statement licensing codes, previous documents, tax codes, and excise duty calculations where appropriate) into our customs declaration software.

As part of your role you may be required to do any of the following, amongst other activities:
∙ Check client commercial invoices and packing lists to ensure that they contain all necessary information to complete a customs declaration
∙ Resolve any issues with the information that the client has provided or any matters flagged by the customs software;
∙ Advise the client of any further customs charges which will apply; and
∙ Resolve any other queries which may need to be addressed before the customs declaration can be submitted.
∙ Enter all necessary data to our customs software, check the declaration and submit it to HMRC (initially we will check declarations before they are submitted).
∙ Represent Alinea Customs at trade fairs and in networking meetings

**Key Requirements**:
∙ Excellent IT skills
∙ Strong with Excel, in particular for manipulating data as you will need to be able to capture data from invoices and upload it to customs software.
∙ Excellent administrative skills, including following document naming and electronic filing conventions.
∙ Experience in the customs / freight forwarding sectors
∙ Good communication skills with colleagues and external customers.
∙ Knowledge of UK customs processes and systems
∙ Maintain awareness of and follow HMRC regulations, where relevant, to conform to all statutory requirements.
∙ Complete work within agreed timeframes.
∙ Be enthusiastic about the work and about being part of the growth of Alinea Customs.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent, Temp to perm
Contract length: 3 months

**Salary**: £26,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
