To ensure that all our students reach their potential and are not discriminated against we wish to appoint a Communication Support Worker to Deaf/Hearing Impaired students to join our established, experienced Sensory Impaired Team.

**Duties & Responsibilities**

Working within the Inclusion team, you will be working with a variety of students and be expected to meet the College's standards of work:

- Communicating using British Sign Language.
- Performing the role of a Learning Support Assistant during class.
- Note Taking, acting as a scribe during exams and lessons.
- Supporting the students out of class (assignment work etc) and during extracurricular activities, such as educational trips or work experience.
- Working closely with the curriculum to encourage inclusive learning.
- Working closely with the Sensory Impaired Specialist Lead to plan and deliver a high-quality, professional service.
- Building glossaries of technical language for the student.
- Promoting equality and integration of Deaf and Hearing Impaired students.
- Develop, review and implement strategies during the academic year, using individual learning profiles and other college systems.
- Communicate appropriate information to other staff including managers and course tutors.
- Undertake record keeping and other administrative tasks, ensuring the confidential nature of the work as required.
- Provide Learning Support to non-deaf students and visually impaired students when needed.

**Offers of Work**

**Essential Attainments**
- Level 2 or above qualification in British Sign Language or be a native level BSL user having come from a deaf family/community.
- English and Mathematics or similar at GCSE grade A-C or equivalent.

**Desirable Attainments**
- UK driving licence free from major endorsements and the use of a vehicle or ability to travel between sites.
- Level 3 in BSL or working towards the qualification.
