About Rochdale Shopmobility and HMR Circle

Rochdale Shopmobility is a well regarded local charity that supports people to access shops and

service in Rochdale Town Centre.

To do this Shopmobility provides manual powered wheelchairs and powered scooters to help

people who have limited mobility shop with ease and enjoyment in Rochdale's Town Centre. It is

for anyone, regardless of age, whether their disability is temporary or permanent. Shopmobility

also provides escorts for people with sensory difficulties, to help with shopping.

HMR Circle is undertaking the management of the service after the retirement of the long term

Rochdale Shopmobility Manager.

About the role

HMR Circle is an award winning social enterprise, which has gained a national and international

reputation for innovation and delivery.

The team at HMR Circle will look to work with and actively support the new Rochdale

Shopmobility Coordinator to grow and develop the Rochdale Shopmobility service and offer.

This will include increasing usage of the service both in terms of numbers of Members and also

increasing the number of daily hires.

On a day to day level the Coordinator will help to take and process the wheelchair and scooter

bookings, collate and log accurately these interactions, including any payments and additional

details. This will include creating usage and income reports.

As part of the wider role the Coordinator will work with the Circle Director to identify and help

access additional funding streams, including grants and traded income.

In addition the Coordinator will work to promote the service through attending events and

activities both in person and online as well as building up the awareness of the service through

both traditional and social media.

Required experience and knowledge:

- To be actively engaged at some level in your local community with an understanding of, and

enthusiasm for the work that the Circle and Rochdale Shopmobility undertake.
- Experience of working in a public facing role.
- Experience of working with disabilities, older people, or those with mobility issues and/or

knowledge of issues affecting these groups would be advantageous, on either a personal or

professional level.
- Confidence and knowledge about how best to interact with people on how to engage with

the Rochdale Shopmobility offer, including over the telephone, face to face, and to groups.
- Experience of having to be proactive, using your own initiative whilst organising yourself and

others, juggling competing demands.
- Good computer skills (Google, Microsoft, Excel, data inputting).
- Ability to work to systems and procedures.

- You will be someone who wants to develop their skills and embrace a programme of

training and development.

What you will do in the role:
You will be based at the purpose built Rochdale Shopmobility Hub in Rochdale Town Centre.

On occasion you will also be out in the community, at a variety of locations to promote Rochdale

Shopmobility, to support new Members, engage with new participants, and actively recruit

Volunteer Helpers.
- Actively market and promote Rochdale Shopmobility to potential users of the service
- Actively identify funding streams and support partners to help build the sustainability of

Rochdale Shopmobility with the goal to expand, enhance and develop the service.
