An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced midwife with a passion for Delivery Suite and Intrapartum care to join us as the Delivery Suite Matron.

The post holder will be responsible for safe and effective day to day operational management and clinical leadership of the midwifery services, within the Delivery Suite.
They must deliver high quality midwifery care by ensuring appropriate systems and processes are in place to provide the continuity of safe and effective care at all times.
They will act as a champion for professional accountability and standards, ensuring that professional practices are in line with the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), and Trust Policy.
Ensure environmental standards and cleanliness of the ward/department/ community team are maintained in line with Trust and National standards.
Effectively manage the ward/department/sector midwifery resource, ensuring that staff rotas are able to deliver safe and effective patient care.
Support and contribute to the development of patient care and midwifery practice within the Directorate. Supervising junior staff. Contribute to Trust wide projects as required.
Ensure effective line management of staff and ensure they are supported in performing to their full potential. Ensure junior staff have appropriate support and supervision and are appropriately assessed.

The Delivery Suite Matron post will focus on the day to day operational management and leadership for the staff and services provided on the Delivery Suite. The post holder will be expected to maintain clinical expertise, undertaking band 7 duties/support in line with the needs of the service
Demonstrate a working knowledge of Trust Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines.
Demonstrate and work towards improving the standards by implementation of Quality Improvement projects.
Create a positive learning environment for students, ensuring appropriate support for them and liaison with link tutors
Responsible for timely release of duty rotas, considering annual leave entitlement to ensure that safe staffing levels and skill mix are maintained.
Review & update guidelines and processes
Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be an effective team member. Proactive engagement with the wider multi agency team is essential to ensure safe care.
