Coventry, United Kingdom SEVERN TRENT Full time

Hello, we’re Severn Trent and we think water is wonderful. Oh, we’re pretty keen on people too.

24 hours a day, 365 days a year we serve 4.8 million households and business across the heart of the UK. Each cuppa drank and every toilet flushed is only possible because of the 6,500 brilliant team members working across our patch.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality. We know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our customers and the communities where they live.

If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.

**EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW**

Working within our Waste Price Control as the **Spills Performance & Insights Lead**, you’ll be responsible for continuously driving and delivering tangible improvement in our company Spills performance to meet and exceed company level targets and external performance commitments, primarily our internal targets.

The individual will be expected to develop a team of technical experts, using your own technical knowledge and a proven background in performance improvement to identify opportunities that will move the dial on our ambition to drive down our number of Spills. You will help to update processes, collaborate with Waste Networks, Waste Water Recycling Operations and Capital and Commercial Services, and build the team to develop the spills reduction strategy and associated performance framework. As manager you will need to continuously seek out opportunities and pursue these with passion, both as an individual and through the team. Improvement opportunities, big and small, will need to be scoped, developed, delivered, embedded and measured with a continuous cycle of improvement being part and parcel of the role.

You will take full ownership for stakeholder engagement, securing buy in, developing business cases, gaining funding and ultimately, delivering and measuring these improvement opportunities within the business. Identifying the size of every opportunity, tracking the benefits and continual learning will be critical to every improvement you and your team implement. You will be expected to prioritise and balance team resources and improvement activity across the whole range of CSO performance measures working within a demanding but supportive environment.

The role holder will be expected to carry out this role with little to no support, be very self-motivated and driven and have a natural curiosity and desire to make things better.

Sound like you? Then read on.

Some of your other key accountabilities will include:

- Developing the team to interrogate the data with a view to identify inefficient processes, new opportunities and support high quality decision making.
- Creation of measures and reports to respond to performance shifts and drive operational teams to measure their compliance to strategy, process and regulatory commitments
- Tracking the delivery and tangible benefits of the implemented improvement activities and new ideas.
- Take accountability for highlighting concerns and escalating issues quickly to ensure the best possible outcomes for our customers.
- Aiding future strategic decision making around Waste Networks and Recycling, to ensure the spills strategy and plan drives the right catchment approach for the longer term.

**WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE**
- You will have previous experience analysing complex data and getting to the key facts/insight in order to deliver performance improvement
- You must be naturally curious, motivated and action orientated in order to take ideas and improvements all the way through to delivery and benefits realisation. You’ll be presenting to a wide range of audiences and influencing different teams to gain support and buy in.
- You will ideally have experience managing multiple high profile business performance metrics and driving step changes in performance
- Your strengths will include building relationships, gaining credibility and ongoing stakeholder management at all levels
- Excellent attention to detail is critical, with the capability to quickly understand processes in relation to data and in relation to the bigger picture
- An intuitive ability to identify improvement opportunities through forums, meetings and wider networking is a must

The right skills and experience are important. But if you have the right character, positivity, and a caring attitude we want to talk to you too.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We want people who show up and get involved. Those who are ready to be part of something bigger and who want to make a difference because they care. **Is that you?**

**WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU**

Working here isn’t just a job. You can build a career at Severn Trent, and we’ll reward you for it too. W
