Ashford, United Kingdom Heathfield Residential Home Full time

We are looking for a Maintenance Person to look after our lovely Residential Home in Ashford, to work 38.5 hours per week (all breaks are unpaid). _Unfortunately we do not offer sponsorship at this present time._

The care sector is such a rich and rewarding place to work, you don’t have to be a carer to make a meaningful difference in our care homes. We want the kindest and most resilient people to come and support our Residents - no two days will be the same and you will receive the ongoing learning and development you need to thrive.

As a Maintenance Person you will mean making sure our Residents live in a place that’s proactively inspected and brilliantly maintained at all times. You will carry out audits and make sure records are kept up to date. And, whether you’re replacing a tap or mixer valve, fitting a new extractor fan, repairing the timber on a bedroom window or putting up new wallpaper in the dining room, you will do so with a sense of kindness above anything else.

We are looking for a Maintenance Person with solid experience in maintenance, building, DIY, garden maintenance and simple plumbing and electrical repairs. You will also preferably have experience in completing fire alarm checks too. And, whenever you communicate with a resident or co-worker, you’ll be truly considerate and kind. Driving licence is a must.

**Responsibilities**:

- Be committed to the Philosophy of Care and Code of Conduct
- Work as part of the team
- Devise regular maintenance and cleaning programmes.
- Keep records accurate and up to date.
- To carry out work to a safe standard.
- To regularly check the environment for repairs and instigate the action thereof.
- To work in a safe manner minimising the risk to others.
- To conduct compliance checks and Health & Safety Audits.
- Be aware of the policies of the home and be involved in the promoting Health and Safety and correct disposal of waste.
- Be aware of the Manual Handling policies, lifting regulations and recommendations.
- Familiarise oneself with the Fire Regulations, equipment and exits and to act sensibly in the event of fire carrying out instructions given by the person in charge.
- Know where Gas, Electricity and Water isolation valves / switches are located and to disconnect supplies in an emergency.
- To read the COSHH data before using any cleaning substance and to adhere by the regulations for use and disposal.
- To be aware for the need for confidentiality.
- To respect the clients property and obtaining consent before entering the rooms or repairing their property.
