Responsible for: 1:1 Supported child.

Responsible To: Nursery Manager/Deputy Manager/ Room Leader

Job Purpose

To work with a child on a 1:1 basis
- To support child’s learning within Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.
- To work alongside other professionals in a multi-agency approach.
- To support other team members and colleagues within the nursery.
- To implement the daily routine with child using appropriate visual prompts such as Now & Next board, visual timetable etc.
- To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the children you are responsible for and children you come into contact with.**

Specific Duties

Child
- To ensure the provision of a high quality learning environment to meet the needs of the child through implementation of planned 1:1 supported activities.
- To support the development of the child’s interactions in large group and small group activities.
- To liaise and work closely with the parents/carers of the child to enable his/her full integration into the nursery and in order for him/her to meet his/her full potential.
- To ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
- To keep a “learning journey” on the child, including observations, photographs and child initiated work.
- To ensure that IEP targets are monitored and progress is logged and reviewed regularly.
- To keep a record of progress on planning sheets of language and interactions; practises that have proved successful with the child, for example, sand timers/ Now & Next board, to share with relevant professionals involved with the child.
- To ensure the security of the child whilst in the care of the nursery, whether this is on nursery premises or out in the wider community.

Staff
- To devise and implement a programme of activities, always ensuring that the child’s current interests are taken into account and plan activities which will develop his/her interests or progress his/her development.
- To share relevant information that may have a direct impact on the child with all staff to ensure effective communication.
- To support other staff in the nursery, always working as a team and ensuring communication is paramount.
- To be involved in activities outside working hours, when necessary i.e. training, staff meetings, fundraising events.

Nursery.
- To ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
- To be aware of the high profile of the nursery, upholding its standards at all times.
- To liaise with, and support parents and carers.
