Birmingham, United Kingdom National Trust Full time

We have an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about volunteer involvement, engagement and participation. We are looking for a Volunteering Officer to lead on all elements of the volunteer journey, including recruitment, induction, training, rotas, development and recognition. You'll monitor sign-ups and provide a warm and positive welcome to our volunteer team.
What it's like to work here:The Roundhouse is one of Birmingham's most distinctive buildings. 19th century canal-side stables and stores in Birmingham city centre, it has been transformed into a hub from which to explore the city by foot, bike or boat.

You’ll be part of a small staff team, and a growing volunteer team, based at the Roundhouse. We're passionate about Birmingham’s complex tapestry of stories, and enjoy sharing the experiences - sometimes ordinary, often extraordinary - of the working people who called this place home.

Please be advised that you'll be required to work some evenings and weekends in this role - more details regarding the hours are in the attached supporting information, and will be discussed at interview.

What you'll be doing:This role will be about building great volunteering involvement. You'll coordinate the volunteering programme at the Roundhouse, creating a consistent and quality volunteer experience that is positive, flexible and inclusive. You'll build the Roundhouse volunteer network, and with support from members of the wider Roundhouse team, be responsible for recruiting and training new volunteers.

Please read the additional information attached for more details on what the role will entail.

Who we're looking forYou'll need to have the following experience:

- Someone who is confident in building strong relationships quickly, a natural people-person and someone comfortable with talking to lots of different people from different backgrounds.
- Ability to work well as part of a disparate team, and also able to step up and lead for successful delivery when required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong customer service.
- Excellent digital skills and the ability to learn and understand new systems.
- Excellent coordination and organisation skills, including training or coaching others.
- Problem solving skills, ability to work on own initiative, multitask and manage time effectively.
- Someone who will bring enthusiasm and positivity to the role, a willingness to chip in and support the team and the needs of the organisation, and who will embody the Roundhouse ‘smiley’ ethos.

The packageThe National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart. We’re working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It’s important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we’re for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.

Wherever you’re from, and whatever your background, we want to hear from you - and it doesn’t matter if you’re jam first, cream first, or even if you don’t like scones at all. Everyone is welcome.

Benefits for working at the National Trust include:

- Flexible working whenever possible
- Free parking at most locations
- Free entry to our properties for you, a guest and your children (under 18)
- Substantial pension scheme of up to 10% basic salary
