**Minute taking skills and experience are essential for this role**

The purpose of this role is to provide expert advice to employees and line managers on all employee relations matters and to support casework in line with council policies and procedures. To build management capability through coaching and training and provide guidance and support to business leads, line managers and employees through the organisational change process, To maintain and improve the wellbeing support provided to employees across the organisation.

Key responsibilities:

- Advising and coaching managers and employees on a high volume of cases covering all aspects of the employment relationship in a timely and professional manner.
- Supporting and leading advise for complex case work.
- Sitting as part of Hearing and Appeal Panels for complex cases, advising senior leaders on process and ensuring the correct steps are taken in line with council policies and employment law.
- Providing support to managers in the preparation for formal processes e.g. invite letters, meeting notes, hearing packs.
- Preparing Employment Tribunal bundles and supporting the preparations for court cases in conjunction with the legal team.
- Attending formal meetings, taking notes and providing HR support to managers making formal decisions in line with policies
- Lead on and independently drive organisational change projects, providing advice on the process and case specific concerns to ensure the necessary policies and legislation are followed.
- Managing and maintaining the job evaluation procedure, including the completion of initial score line grading and organisation of panels.
- Identifying ways and setting out the steps needed to develop and revise existing HR processes and policies to ensure that they comply with relevant quality standards, organisational objectives and employment law.
- Leading on policy updates - to include the research, design, consultation, communication, training and implementation.

**Qualifications:
**- CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent.

**Experience**:

- Experience of supporting complex employee relations cases including disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence, ill health, flexible working, redundancy, contractual changes etc.
- Experience of reviewing and updating People Policies.
- Experience of senior stakeholder management: keeping relevant parties informed on the progress of the case and knowing when to flag any risks or concerns.
- Experience of liaising and consulting with trade union representatives or staff representative groups to negotiate successful outcomes.
- Experience of driving change and delivering service improvements.
- Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.

**Knowledge**:

- Excellent understanding of UK legislation across all HR policies and procedures including ability to assess potential areas of risk.
- Up to date knowledge of employment law and best practice.

**Skills & Abilities**:

- Good communication and influencing skills.
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
- Minute taking skills and experience.
