**The Company**

Evonetix is a start-up biotech company which is set to revolutionize_ _gene synthesis. Our desktop DNA platform is based on a novel silicon chip which is capable of the independent control of many thousands of miniaturized reaction sites, allowing massive parallelism of the DNA synthesis process.

**The Role**

We are seeking an associate scientist to help with the development of our technoloy. You will be working as part of a closely-knit multidisciplinary team of engineers, physicists, surface chemists, software engineers and biologists, and so will possess a willingness to rapidly learn the new skills required to develop this radical new technology.

Our technology is moving to key phase of research development and commercialization, and you will be involved in delivering the novel chemical reagents needed for our oligonucleotide synthetic process.

We are seeking team members who are available immediately for fixed term contracts. There is the opportunity for this to evolve into a permanent role.
- Accurately and reliably making up solutions of buffers and other reagents to specified recipe.
- Conducting equipment calibration, priming, verification, and regular checks.
- Follow SOP to run automated DNA synthesizer prototypes.
- Generating, recording and reporting analytical data in line with departmental procedures.
- Lab management tasks including reagent/solvent stock management, ordering, batch tracking.
- Regular QC of reagents.

**Requirements**:

- Qualification in Chemistry, ideally to degree level or similar.
- Experience of operating in an academic or industrial chemistry laboratory.
- Good knowledge of laboratory health and safety requirements for safe handling of chemical reagents.
- Meticulous and detail-orientated planning and execution of work-flows.
- Good understanding of standard chemistry lab equipment.
- Ability to communicate scientific concepts with accuracy and clarity.
- Computer literate, familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel and ability to learn how to use electronic notebooks, sample management systems, ordering systems etc.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow scientific protocols effectively and consistently.
- Ability to analyze, interpret and record data.

**Desirable**:

- Working experience with automated synthesizers.
- Working knowledge of analytical instrumentation such as HPLC/UPLC, LC-MS, IR and fluorescent microscopy.
- Experience of conducting laboratory tests within a manufacturing or process environment.
