**About the Opportunity**
We are currently recruiting for a Technical Discipline Lead for our Mechanical Engineering capability to join our Decommissioning Projects business. This role will be based either in our Birchwood office in Warrington or Scrabster office in Caithness, but there will be a need for periodic visits to client sites, as projects require.
The Decommissioning & Regeneration Solutions (D&RS) business provides an exciting mixture of consultancy, engineering, front end engineering design and project management support, along with delivery of challenging decommissioning related EPC projects, to major clients in the UK across both the civil nuclear and defence industries, including Dounreay, Sellafield Limited, Urenco and Magnox. Overseas, we are delivering similarly interesting and exciting projects across the globe including projects for clients in Central & Eastern Europe and Japan.
In this role, you will support Project Engineering Managers with delivery of project works, with responsibility for implementing Engineering Procedures and maintaining standards of technical quality in delivery of front-end engineering design activities. You will also be responsible for Managing our local Mechanical capability within the Decommissioning business; ensuring that our mechanical capability is delivering high quality work with a consistent approach and has the breadth and depth of capability required to support our strong pipeline of work. This role will also require a keen interest in developing the team’s digital and data delivery capability in-line with Jacobs’ business accelerator. As a senior member of the team you will also support and mentor other resources including early years careers personnel, apprentices and graduates on the road to professional status. Part of this role will also include leading on developing technical estimates as part of tender responses for design and other work winning opportunities.
As a senior engineer within the department, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Provide technical oversight of Mechanical delivery within the team including independent audits/reviews.
- Provide technical expertise, advice and guidance to clients and internal project delivery teams on Mechanical front end engineering design deliverables.
- Develop the Mechanical capability.
- Track, maintain and develop the technical competence of the mechanical team.
- Identify opportunities to align and grow the capability in accordance with Jacobs strategic growth accelerators.
- Lead a team of engineers to successful delivery of mechanical scopes of work on single discipline projects or large multidiscipline projects.
- The quality of Mechanical delivery across all projects.
- Planning and budgeting of mechanical scopes of work for tenders
- Ensuring resource forecasting is accurate and up to date for the Mechanical team.
- Ensuring correct resources are deployed onto projects in accordance with the project’s needs and demands to maintain delivery to time, cost and quality
- Maintaining deployment of the Mechanical engineers
- You will also play a leading role in teams planning, budgeting and then developing typical front end engineering.
You will also be supporting various and diverse nuclear clients providing Front End Engineering Design through to full life cycle project requirements including:
- Waste retrieval and treatment
- POCO
- Fuel and packaging
- Technical assessment
- Feasibility and Optioneering Studies
**Here’s What You’ll Need**:
- Degree qualified or equivalent (e.g. HNC/HND with significant experience) in engineering discipline with extensive front end engineering design experience
