**About the Opportunity**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Design and execution of radiochemistry and geochemistry experiments and associated data analysis and interpretation.
- Provision of desk-based scientific consultancy services.
- Working in our radiochemistry laboratory facilities to take an active part in the setup and execution of key experiments.
- Contributing to the routine operation of our laboratory facilities, including radiological protection duties.
- Demonstrating and promoting the highest levels of health and safety in all aspects of the role.
- Producing high-quality technical reports, as main author and/or in collaboration with other senior technical resources.
- Supporting successful interactions with clients, including presentation of key results and their interpretation in the context of client needs.
- Supporting business development activities (including competitive bidding) in relevant technical areas.
- Taking ownership of agreed work areas, and delivering work to agreed timescales, quality and cost.

**Here’s what you’ll need**:

- A good first degree OR higher degree in a science or engineering discipline OR equivalent training/experience.
- A PhD in chemistry or geochemistry, OR equivalent working experience.
- Excellent experimental skills with focus on radiochemistry or geochemistry.
- A proven understanding of analytical chemistry with an appetite to learn new analytical methods.
- Experience working with open sources of radioisotopes in a supervised or controlled laboratory.
- Numerate with excellent technical writing skills.
- Flexible, innovative, and eager to learn.
- Adaptable, able to work on and/or coordinate a number of varied projects at the same time, prioritising as appropriate.
- Able to work within multi-disciplinary teams.
- The successful applicant will need to be able to obtain appropriate security clearance.

**Desirable**
- Understanding of the UK programme for geological disposal of radioactive waste.
- Experience utilising analytical radiochemistry techniques.
- Track record of publishing technical work in industry reports and/or scientific literature.
