**Job summary**:
The Diversity and Inclusion Lead (D&I) will work with an established structure of Divisional D&I Leads and Employee Support Networks to embed D&I across Dstl, helping us to continue turning our strategy into reality.

The role reports to the Employee Experience Lead and has no direct reports, however you will work with colleagues from across the People, Engagement and Communications Division (PECD) to ensure that their expertise is shared and impactful organisation wide outcomes are achieved through the products delivered in these areas.

You will also work with other groups within Dstl to build D&I best practice into every area.

**Job description**:
**In this role you will**:

- Implement a strategy which engages key stakeholders and promotes D&I; presenting information to engage Dstl’s Executive and other senior leaders and working with others to encourage them to take authentic action
- Lead activities against a clear project plan, that will ensure D&I is a priority and continues to deliver Dstl’s levels of ambition
- Develop a D&I capability within Dstl through skills development and awareness
- Lead a group of HR professionals to embed positive action initiatives and change the workforce profile of Dstl
- Provide an expert service - through the delivery of D&I employment law advice, horizon scanning, thought leadership and best practice
- Lead the D&I employee voice networks in Dstl, bringing these communities together to achieve the best impact, ensuring Dstl feels like a great a place to work, including representatives from Employee Support Networks and Divisional D&I Leads. You will provide development and coaching support, reviewing training needs and where appropriate managing the recruitment of volunteers
- Work with HR Business Partners (HRBP's) to support Dstl’s transformation programmes at the organisational level; consulting with and coaching transformation programme/project/change managers and teams
- Working alongside the HRBP community - raise awareness through development of training and coaching interventions for senior leaders, HR colleagues and other relevant groups/communities in their approach to D&I
- Coordinate with other projects of work in PECD programmes
- Engage with cross-government D&I working groups and experts to share best practice and provide thought leadership to wider government initiatives

**Person specification**:
**We are looking for someone who has**:
Essential:

- Experience of delivering organisational D&I projects and programmes, which demonstrate measurable change and outcomes, including experience of Positive action programmes
- Leadership experience to create a team focus and accountability for outcomes, particularly with no direct line management
- Experience of working across a complex organisation to influence and persuade, able to adapt style accordingly
- Experience of using people data, insights, and business intelligence for evidence based decision making to create D&I interventions
- Able to work strategically and link complex areas together

Desirable:

- Experience of outreach and a knowledge of underrepresented communities
- High level of Employment law knowledge relating to D&I
