**Product and Services Safety (P&SS) Risk Lead**

The role will be providing Safety Risk Management technical leadership to the BDUK P&SS Senior Manager. The individual will be responsible for updating and executing the BDUK SRM strategy across all BDUK programmes and sites. The SRM strategy will involve the implementation of BowTie Enterprise and evolution of the Centrik Risk Heatmaps as we refine our risk trending. This will also involve engagement across multiple platforms and sites as you coordinate SRM inputs and ensure SRM products are produced to the required standard to support executive safety action groups and review boards. Technical leadership across this domain will involve leading and mentoring the SMS team on risk assessment, complex risk analysis and evolvement of BowTies to the required level of maturity. It will also involve working closely with the investigation and reporting leads to gather and validate trending and performance indicator information to support risk monitoring and reviews. This role is available as Full-Time or Part-Time role with some hybrid working options.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- The BDUK P&SS Risk Lead is responsible for the following roles in support of the BDUK P&SS Senior Manager:

- Evolving and executing on the BDUK SRM strategy
- Leading on the successful implementation of BowTie Enterprise
- Support and preparation of SRM inputs for the BDUK Safety Action Groups and the BDUK Safety Review Board Provide Technical leadership and mentoring for the creation of Accountable Manager Advice Notes; risk analysis escalation papers Technical Leadership on the refinement of BDUK BowTies to the required maturity standard
- Delivering BowTie Users training
- Mentoring of the BowTie Facilitators
- Acting as the focal for the BowTie Maturity forum
- Working with the BDUK Chief Safety Investigator and BDUK Safety Reporting Lead to validate and refine safety trends and assurance information to produce validated risk metrics
- Providing technical leadership to design and develop effective safety performance and key risk metrics
- Holding executive stakeholder reviews for risk escalations or risk register reviews Interface with the BDUK Quality Department, Supply Chain, Commercial and Programmes on Safety Risk Management activities
- Ensuring SMS interfaces (including sub-contractors) are suitably to develop to pass effective safety and risk information
- Provide investigation direct support and oversight where required to the Chief Safety Investigator on significant investigations Acting as cover for the Chief Safety Investigator for Event Review Group facilitation and peer review of investigation reports

Travel within the UK is expected and some overseas travel may be required.

**REQUIRED SKILS AND EXPERIENCE**:

- Formal safety management training including safety risk management training
- Significant safety risk management experience in assessing and analyzing safety risks
- Experience in working in an engineering, maintenance or air environment SMS
- BowTie XP facilitator with significant experience in creating and maintaining BowTies using BowTie XP advanced
- The role will have significant UK MoD customer, supplier and wider Boeing interfaces and, therefore, a person who is diplomatic whilst being strong minded is essential

**PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**:

- Experience as an advanced user in safety reporting tools
- Previous experience as an Airline or MoD Safety Manager or Risk Lead
- Formal safety risk management training as part of an MSc. or Post Grad diploma or certificate
- Academic or industry training and/or experience in data analytics e.g. data analysis courses, statistics A level or a degree with statistical elements
- Experience using or implementing BowTie Enterprise (previously known as BT Server)
- Formal safety investigation training and experience
- Awareness of MoD safety requirements and regulations
- Experience in facilitating effective Safety Action Groups and Safety Review Boards
- Human Factors trainer or examiner / supervisor

**EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Relevant degree, or equivalent level of academic performance
