Job description

To work in our Patient Contact Centre in Four Oaks or one of our Surgeries. You will receive calls and assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way ensuring protocols are adhered to at all times.

Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery. Ensuring messages from doctors and patients are conveyed as appropriate to other services e.g. District Nurses, Midwives or Hospitals.

Provide excellent service to the patients and offer general assistance to the practice team, projecting a positive and friendly image al all times.

To take ownership and personally resolve any errors wherever possible.

Enter requests for home visits onto the visit screen, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to duty doctor.

Action repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready for collection by the patient within 48 hours, either on the computer.

Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts.

Enter patient information on to the computer as required.

Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data.

Fulltime hours are 0800-1830 either M-Th or Tu-Fr (to be agreed)

Part-time hours are either a 0800 start or 1830 finish with number of working hours to be agreed.

Applicant must show evidence via Covid Pass (obtainable via the NHS App) of Covid vaccinations ( preferably including booster jab)

If upon you joining SCGP, you are currently a patient at one of the SCGP practices, you will be asked to transfer to a different practice. During your probation, unless there is no other alternative available for you, you will be expected to transfer to another practice to ensure that you are not treated by a colleague.
