**Job description**:

- The Cities and Local Growth Unit (CLGU) is a joint unit between DLUHC and BEIS.
- We support economic development and growth in places across the UK. We work on initiatives including: pan regional partnerships, support for towns and high streets, levelling up and community renewal funding and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund; devolution of powers and funding; responses to economic shocks; and freeports.- As part of the Midlands Engine team you will be supporting the work of the Midlands Engine Partnership (which covers both the East and West Midlands), developing relationships with the other Pan Regional Partnership Teams in CLGU (the Northern Powerhouse, Western Gateway, Great South West, Thames Estuary and OxCam Arc). Pan regional partnerships have a remit to deliver economic growth and productivity through operating at scale with partners on shared priorities, international trade and investment and developing the regional economic evidence base. You will also support the wider work of the East Midlands Team as we support places to deliver local economic growth through our Area Teams and support our work on local economic intelligence.
- The role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of policy and delivery. It includes cross-government work to encourage departments to increase their level support for the Midlands. It is a fast paced area that will require initiative and flexibility to respond to emerging priorities.**Person specification**:
You will:

- Support our work on pan regional partnerships, for example co-ordinating financial forecasts across the PRP teams, leading specific pieces of work such as the creation of a pan regional partnership assurance framework and supporting the organisation of regular pan regional team catch up's as required.
- Support work on the Midlands Engine; leading on the business case and grant agreements for the Midlands Engine core funding, supporting assurance by organising effective mid year and annual review meetings and overseeing corporate reporting to both BEIS and DLUHC, plus the opportunity to lead or support specific pieces of Midlands Engine project or policy work.
- Support our work to produce high quality regional economic intelligence, ensuring impacts of C19, EU Exit and other high-level changes are well understood and leading on the response to economic shocks, including supporting local authorities, universities, business groups and others in their interactions with central government.
- Deliver a high quality service on briefing, parliamentary business and Ministerial visits.
- Support the wider work of the team in a flexible manner, including supporting our East Midlands Area Teams as required.
- Work independently, using initiative and support the wider team helping to make it an inclusive and positive place to work.
- Act as a role model by displaying positive qualities in the team setting, which also reinforce Departmental values and behaviours, utilising strengths effectively and identifying and addressing development needs.
