**Job summary**:
Defence Digital Commercial provides its global users with the digital and IT services they need to carry out their work and keep their teams connected, from the hardware and software they use day-to-day, satellite connectivity, operating and defending our networks, access to the spectrum frequencies we need, developing bespoke apps, and much more.

The Commercial Chief of Staff purpose is to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of DD Commercial Function. They work closely with the 2 x Directors and the Chief Operating Officer to streamline operations, uniting staff across the Function, and keep them moving forwards to ensure that the strategic intent and objectives are achieved. The role is integral to the Function productivity and effectiveness, driving cultural change and acting as a bridge between the Senior Leadership Team and Stakeholders.

The Chief of Staff is also responsible for managing the Executive Office, which provides administrative support to the Senior Leadership Team.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:
Undertake line management, mentoring and countersigning tasks as required by the role. This role has 3 x direct reports and 2 countersigning roles.

To advise and lead on the construction, development and delivery of the Directors goals, priorities and responsibilities.

Facilitate effective communication and collaboration ensuring that the organisations priorities are aligned to the wider Def Comrcl, Def Dig and UKStratCom objectives, utilising performance metrics to measure the organisations value and articulating this back to the 2 x Directors.

Foster a positive and productive working environment and team culture. Serving as a liaison with staff, Senior Leadership Team and stakeholders regarding organisation climate, employee well-being, project updates, proposals and planning.

Working on the everyday action items that the 2 x Directors do not have time to carry out, such as working with Category Heads on project coordination and business administration.

Identify areas for improvement and work with the Chief Operating Officer to improve current processes to optimise operational efficiency, ensure deadlines are met, and initiatives are executed effectively.

Exercise decision-making power to identify issues and provide workable solutions to the Senior Leadership Team.

Maximising Directors (x2) time efficiently by ensuring that the Outer Office diaries are well organised, appointments are scheduled and materials are prepared to an excellent standard by the Outer Office.
