Governance and Patient Safety Coordinator

The post holder will play a key role supporting the governance, patient safety and complaints processes within the Division of Surgery across the Bristol and Weston sites. The post holder will provide support across the Division on all aspects of patient safety, incidents, complaints and governance issues as they relate to staff, managers and clinical governance teams, ensuring the Division is compliant with statutory and regulatory requirements such as the Care Quality Commission Standards and Trust policies and procedures.
1. Support the Divisional Governance and Patient Safety Manager in ensuring an open incident reporting culture and encouraging staff to report incidents via the Datix system
2. Monitor the systems in place to ensure tracking of clinical incidents, investigations, complaints, compliments, and action plans.
3. Review and analyse data relating to complaints, patient safety reporting and the risk register
4. Produce performance data information for the groups within the Division that is both qualitative and quantitative in support of clinical governance activity
5. Liaise with staff across the Division, supporting policy change/s and dissemination of learning from complaints, incidents and patient safety information to staff within the Division
6. Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Divisional Governance and Patient Safety Manager and Complaints Manager: organising monthly governance meetings, booking rooms, producing agendas, and taking minutes, formatting newsletters, managing cases, making appointments, booking investigation and attending complaint meetings
7. Arrange and attend family complaint meetings, taking minutes and action notes
8. Identify incidents as a result of complaints, linking the incident to the complaint and escalating to the Divisional Complaints Manager
9. Deputise for the Divisional Governance and Patient Safety Manager and Complaints Manager in their absence
10. Network across UHBW to support and respond to patient safety, complaints and governance requirements
