Working Pattern: Days (37 hours per week, typical hours are 07:30 - 15:40 or 08:10 - 16:20)

Location: Sellafield, West Cumbria

Safety Advisors provide professional advice and support to the business to enable safe and effective delivery of the Sellafield mission, whilst meeting EHS legislative and regulatory requirements. They use their knowledge and skills to promote EHS awareness and promote a positive safety culture in the workplace.

Responsibilities include:

- Assess EH&S risks and provide professional safety advice (including radiological, conventional, occupational hygiene, construction) in accordance with legislation and site policy & procedures.
- Identify and respond to EH&S issues and concerns; carry our regular workplace inspections observation and assurance activities to ensure working practices are safe and comply with expected standards.
- Support the Duty Holder in the investigation of EH&S incidents and events.
- Identify, support, and facilitate EH&S improvements.
- Support EHS role holders and those accountable for EHS delivery to develop EHS awareness and competence of the workforce.
- Develop and deliver EHS training in support of local and site training programmes.

Essential Skills:

- Ability to undertake extensive training and development to complete the Safety Competency Scheme. This will require you to o Develop and maintain a detailed knowledge of relevant EH&S legislation, site arrangements and standards.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the EH&S hazards and associated controls within the Programme/Project/OU.
- Ability to problem solve and implement solutions.
- Ability to develop and leading safety improvements.
- Effective Communication skills including provision of advice, written reports and the delivery of presentations and training
- Good interpersonal skills and ability/willingness to work with and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation and external bodies such as regulators.

Desirable skills:

- Formal safety qualification e.g. NEBOSH Cert/Diploma, NVQ.
- Member of a relevant Professional Body (e.g. SRP, IOSH, etc.)
- Knowledge and understanding of Safety challenges at Sellafield
