**Job summary**:
The Scottish Government Rural Payments and Inspections Division (SGRPID) is made up of 16 Area offices throughout Scotland and are responsible for payment of Common Agricultural Policy scheme grants and subsidies and inspection of agricultural land and livestock to ensure compliance with regulations.

Area office staff play a key role to the business by delivering a high quality customer service through accurate administration and inspection of subsidy claims, which result in £700 million of direct aid to the Scottish rural economy. They also provide professional advice and information to Scottish Ministers, the general public and other colleagues in the Scottish Government.

The Area Office staff are the main point of contact with farmers, crofters and other interested parties, being responsible for the delivery of grants, subsidies and other Government policies to the rural community. Having an outward customer focus and communicating effectively with colleagues and customers is pivotal to the smooth running of the office.

**Job description**:

- Reception duties including dealing with telephone, written and face to face enquiries from both internal and external customers including assisting with registration and navigation of RPID's online systems.
- Data capture and processing on the Scottish Animal Movement Unit (SAMU) database of all Scottish farm to farm moves of sheep and goats.
- General administrative duties, including filing, acknowledgement and onward processing of mail, compilation of eRDM files and maintaining spreadsheet information.

**Person specification**:

- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain & improve standards of customer service with proven strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Strong planning and organisational skills including the ability to use initiative and judgement to prioritise competing demands when working under pressure.
- Proven experience of working as part of a team, works well with others but can carry out individual tasks as required with the minimum of supervision.
- Demonstrated ability using a variety of IT systems, including Microsoft Office Products - Word, Excel and Outlook.
