An exciting opportunity has arisen at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery for a Documentation Assistant to help digitise, audit and catalogue our world class Asian, Islamic and other art collections. This will include working with a range of objects including Chinese ceramics and Iranian carpets from the bequest of F P M Schiller and archaeological fragments from Fustat, Egypt.

You will work at the museum for 12 months alongside friendly and supportive colleagues to increase access to these collections. This is an excellent chance to build your expertise in museum documentation, working to Spectrum standards ( Spectrum - Collections Trust ). You will gain hands on experience of Asian and Islamic material culture.

**About you**

Familiarity with an Asian language or a language relating to the Islamic collections would be an advantage but is not essential.

You will report to the Senior Curator, Visual Arts and be part of the Collections & Archives team (curators, archivists, conservators, documentation and environmental records staff).

The post is funded externally through Bristol Museums Development Trust.
