The postholder will be joining the Health Equity and Clinical Governance Directorate which is part of the Clinical Public Health Group. The directorate collaborates across the public health systems to provide trusted health security, and clinical and public health professional leadership, through reliable advice, guidance, evidence and assurance, which delivers measurable improvements in keeping people safe. The directorate also focusses on delivering patient and public safety and delivering the best possible health security outcomes.

The Health Equity and Inclusion division is responsible for developing and implementing the organisation’s health equity strategy - working across the organisation and especially with strategy, policy and programmes to embed health equity considerations across the organisation and ensure organisational compliance with the Public Sector Equality Duty.

The post-holder will lead the work of UKHSA, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, to provide expert public health advice on health security for deprived and vulnerable populations and communities. In particular, the role will focus on the needs of people living in the most deprived parts of the country, inequalities related to protected characteristics such as ethnicity, and the specific needs and inequalities that arise through the life course, including children and young people.

**Working for your organisation**:
At the United Kingdom Health Security Agency (UKHSA) our mission is to provide health security for the nation by protecting from infectious disease and external hazards. We are a trusted source of advice to government and to the public, focusing on reducing inequalities in the way different communities experience and are impacted by infectious disease, environmental hazards, and other threats to health.
