**Jack in the Box is a private day nursery who are looking to appoint a child centred, friendly, Early Years practitioner.**
About us
Welcome to Jack in the Box day-care a home from home for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years old. We are proud to say that we offer an environment where children can be children learning through play whilst having fun. We celebrate each child’s uniqueness and encourage their individual personalities to shine whilst in our care through establishing strong relationships with parents and other professionals. We are open all year round, Monday to Friday, and team members work between the hours of between 7.15am and 6.00pm.
We close in-between Christmas and New Year and bank holidays. We offer morning, afternoon or full day sessions and strive to be flexible to accommodate all family’s needs.
We are very lucky to have a cook onsite who provides home cooked meals daily. Our setting is divided into three main rooms as well as sharing a building with Tudhoe Moor Nursery School and Tudhoe Moor children’s centre.

**Hours**
This post will be for a 20 hour per week permanent contract although it is most likely there will be over time available of up to 40 hours per week. Working hours will be between 7.15 - 6.00 on a flexible rota system. Working hours will vary from 20 hours to 40 hours per week.
**Job Context**
This post will be based in the Jack in the Box Day Care, within the Children’s Centre at Tudhoe Moor Nursery School.
Working as a nursery practitioner (Level 3.)
**Job Purpose**
To work within a team, contributing to the provision of high, quality day care, play and education for children aged birth to school age.
This post will report directly to the day-care manager.
**Main Responsibilities**
To ensure the delivery of high quality day care within Jack in the Box by:
- Meeting the social, emotional, physical and intellectual needs of the children in Jack in the Box Day Care and provide appropriate opportunities and learning experiences for all children.
- Contributing to an appropriate safe, secure and stimulating environment for all children.
- To act as a Key Person, providing professional support to parents, carers and children and maintaining individual care and development plans.
- Attending and contributing to regular staff meetings as required outside of working hours.
- To participate in planning, writing it up and carrying out appropriate activities with the children.
- Undertaking any relevant training deemed necessary to the post and to be proactive in your professional development.
- Respecting confidentiality within Jack in the Box Day Care, and outside of the setting.
- To be aware of and implement the settings policies and procedures.
- To work within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and to be knowledgeable in all aspects of this framework.
- Keeping clear and concise records of children’s progress.
- Working in partnership with colleagues within the day care and also with the education nursery team.
- To assist in any other extra duties as and when required by the management team and by the board of directors.
- To have an up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding children.
- Take ownership of the development of their rooms.
- Hold a relevant level 3 qualification.
- Have GCSE English and Maths at a grade C or above.
- Be an enthusiastic and motivated individual.
- Be passionate about early education and have the drive to empower all children to meet their full potential.
- Be confident, friendly and approachable.
- Have excellent communication skills.
