Job summary A nurse/paramedic practitioner is required for a full-time/part-time, permanent vacancy at an expanding general practice inSpennymoor (15000 patients over 2 sites).
Salary would be discussed and wouldbe depending on experience and hours.The successful candidate will be supported by a large and diverse clinical team andwill need to be able to communicate well and work well as part of a large team.It is desirable that you are a non-medical prescriber or have advanced clinical skills.
Main duties of the job The successful candidate will be responsible forattending to patients who wish to be seen by a health care professional whetherin the surgery, at home or via telephone; diagnosing and treating patientspresenting with minor illness, seeing and advising people in respect of theircontinuing medical needs, mainly seeing patients with acute illnessespresenting on the day.
The Practitioner will need to prioritize and triage theneeds of patients accordingly, making any necessary referrals for investigationsin the appropriate manner.
About us The practice has 4 GP partners and 3 salaried GPs.
We are a training practice so usually have GP registrars in the practice as well.
The clinical team currently comprises of advanced nurse and care practitioners, practice and long term conditions nurses, HCA and trainee nurse associates, pharmacists and a phlebotomist.
We all support each other and have a large administration and secretarial team who are also very supportive of the clinical team.
We are a very busy practice which is on two sites both within Spennymoor.
Job description Job responsibilities A nurse practitioner or paramedic practitioner responsible to the partners (clinically) and practice manager (managerially).
Must maintain registration with NMC or HCPC.Must demonstrate critical thinking, acting within professional boundaries, safe and competent decision making.
Must communicate and work collaboratively with the team.Assesses, diagnoses and treats patients at the surgery or in their own home.
Directly admits patients to secondary care in acute medical need.
Refers patients to other specialities if deemed appropriate.Where medication is required advise patients of appropriate over the counter treatment or follow practice formularies and utilise prescribing authorisation to generate prescriptions for endorsement by a GP.Participate in evidence based practice.
Be aware of current evidence based approaches to patient care.Hours of work would be 37 hours per week.
We also currently offer extended hours appointments until 8pm on Wednesdays and some Saturdays 09:00 - 17:00 which are covered on a rotational basis.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential Must be a registered nurse or paramedic.
To have Non-medical prescribing and advanced clinical skills Experience Essential Two years post registration minimum Desirable Experience of working in general practice or community team would be an advantage
