Responsible to the Learning from Deaths Lead, the Learning from Deaths Clinical Reviewer and Learner Liaison will support the delivery of quality for the Trust, ensuring safe, effective and high quality services, learning from experience with the welfare of patients and staff at the heart of this role. They will also provide support, mentorship and education to our Paramedic Learners, helping our future colleagues to confidently deliver effective, safe, compassionate and quality patient care.

The Learning from Deaths Clinical Reviewer and Learner Liaison will support the Trust in the implementation of the Trust’s Quality Strategy to ensure the Trust meets statutory and national obligations to continually improve service delivery. Employing suitable review techniques applicable to the Learning from deaths process, producing high quality review summaries and presenting findings to relevant meetings, working groups and learning sessions.

An expert in Learning from Death reviews, techniques and practice, they will act as a resource on and provide specialist advice relating to Learning from Deaths for staff and learners Trust wide and at our partner universities, and deliver training on review skills and associated processes.

As a registered clinician, they will maintain clinical registration, by conducting sufficient continuous professional development and clinical practice in accordance with clinical guidelines and Trust protocols.
- Main duties of the job

The Learning from Deaths Clinical Reviewer will be able to employ suitable review techniques applicable to the Learning from Deaths process, producing high quality review summaries and presenting findings to relevant meetings and working groups.

Liaise with appropriate Trust departments and learning and development teams to ensure learning points from investigations are developed into Trust practice and, where relevant, national practice.

Support patient safety improvement activity ensuring that systems thinking, human factors understanding and just culture principles are embedded in patient safety processes.

Provide support, educational input and development activities relating to Learning from Deaths for staff and students within practice learning environments and contribute to the development of pre-registration and post-registration education programmes, reflecting the needs of the future.

Work across the organisation, with other NHS Trusts and with partner universities to support the development of the future workforce for the local health economy and to promote the sharing of best practice.
