Due to resignation of the current postholder, the CIoS ICB is looking to make an interim appointment to the role of Chief Medical Officer to 31 March 2023. This is a critical role over the forthcoming coming winter period, working as part of the Integrated Care Board with partners and providers to provide clinical leadership to our health and care system at a particularly challenging time.

You will report directly to the ICB Chief Executive Officer and are professionally accountable to the NHSE/I Regional Medical Director.

Alongside the chief nursing officer (CNO), you are accountable for all matters relating to the relevant professional colleagues across the clinical and care workforce employed by the ICB.

You will have the executive responsibility for inequalities in CIOS and work with public health as a partner.

You will be the Caldicott Guardian for the ICB.

You will also be accountable for statutory and non-statutory functions which are part of the Chief Medical’s Officer portfolio as covered below:
To advise the board of the outcome and implications of inspections conducted by external bodies for example, CQC and ensure that recommended actions are fully implemented and appropriately reviewed to ensure compliance.

Work closely with executive director colleagues to develop and
communicate the strategic vision for clinical governance and
galvanize and support staff in promoting our commitment to
governance and risk.

Ensure that within each clinical domain, effective systems and processes are established to enable the delivery of the clinical governance agenda.

Participate in and support the assurance process for all aspects of governance as an attendee at key board committees.

Work with the CNO to ensure that all aspects of governance are robustly coordinated to ensure safe clinical services are delivered to the population in CIOS.

Manage the role out of population health management across CIOS.

Develop an evidence-based repository and way of working that supports evidence based practice and evaluation of outcomes.

Developing CIOS for research and development and innovation.

Acting as champion to develop active clinical research in CIOS.

Medicines management function including patient owned drugs
Clinical policies and individual funding requests.
