We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Graduate Sports Assistant to join our PE department for one year to assist in all areas of the PE and Sports Department from help with lessons, to supporting staff in coaching sessions and fixtures.

This role would suit a university graduate student looking to gain work experience in an educational environment. You will be given the opportunity to further your professional development and we would look to create opportunities or projects that you may wish to lead on, to give you further responsibility and an insight into teaching.

Regular fixtures take place during Games afternoons and on Saturdays. In addition to this, an extensive after school activities programme allows pupils to take part in a wide range of sports and activities as part of the School’s co-curricular program, including pre-season training.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
- Leading teams in the major sports (netball, cricket) during games lessons and at fixtures
- Teaching gym to Pre-Prep
- To work closely with the Boarding Housemaster to ensure primarily, but not exclusively, junior boarders are appropriately cared for, building positive relationships and creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

**Girls Sports Assistant**
- To coach games to ensure the pupils are safely taught skills and the rules of the games
- To teach gym to the Pre-Prep
- To promote the School ethos of good sportsmanship
- To coach in a positive manner to inspire and motivate pupils
- To organise teams, post notices and accompany teams to fixtures and tours outside of normal school hours
- To ensure all Health & Safety directives are adhered to
- To report all results to the Head of Girls’ Sport and, where appropriate, liaise with her over team selection
- To proactively care for equipment and facilities
- To participate in the School’s co-curricular and after-school activities programme
- To provide lifeguarding duties
- To ensure that the School’s sports policy is adhered to
- To assist with the marketing of the sports department including Open Days and Sport specific events
- To assist with the writing of school reports and grade cards
- To assist with the planning and delivery of tournaments hosted at Twyford School
- To be responsible for the tidiness and upkeep of the sports equipment
- To attend departmental meetings when required
- To participate in INSET days and pre-season training sessions

**Junior House Parent**
- In conjunction with the Boarding Housemaster and Residential Matron, ensure the pastoral wellbeing of all boarders in the House, being aware of and responding to their individual needs, enabling them to thrive and be happy at School
- To be responsible, in conjunction with the Boarding Housemaster and Residential Matron, for the pupils’ general welfare, health and presentation
- To ensure the provision of a comfortable living environment, a home from home, and to establish and maintain a healthy routine for each boarder
- To be actively involved in the organisation of pupil activities in the evenings
- To set and expect high standards of behaviour from pupils, particularly their relationships with others and in line with the standards and expectations of the School community
- To support and manage pupils who are expected to tidy their own areas, change and make their beds and leave rooms tidy, ensuring that curtains are drawn and lights turned off before School each day. Assist Boarders in collating laundry and supervise collection
- To be available for parents/boarders when they leave or return from holidays, weekends, exeats, etc. This includes ensuring that the House has been left in a clean and tidy manner, and that all personal effects have been removed/secured, as well as supporting Matron with arranging suitable transport as required
- To be prepared to work at any time to care for the boarders in times of emergency
- To be vigilant and active in fulfilling the School’s safeguarding obligations and refer any safeguarding or child protection concerns in strict accordance with the School’s published safeguarding policy
