**Children’s Home Support Worker**

**Position Overview**:
The Children’s Home Support Worker is responsible for providing care, support, and guidance to children and young people residing in a children’s home. The role involves ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of the children, assisting with daily activities, and promoting their personal development and independence.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Child Care and Support**:

- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children and young people.
- Assist with personal care routines, including bathing, dressing, and feeding.
- Administer medication as prescribed and ensure all medical needs are met.
- Monitor and report any changes in the child’s behaviour or health.
- **Daily Activities and Routine**:

- Plan and facilitate daily activities, including educational, recreational, and social activities.
- Assist children with homework and educational tasks.
- Organize outings and trips, ensuring the safety and supervision of children at all times.
- **Emotional and Behavioural Support**:

- Build trusting and supportive relationships with children and young people.
- Implement behaviour management strategies and interventions as required.
- Provide emotional support and guidance, promoting positive self-esteem and confidence.
- **Communication and Record Keeping**:

- Maintain clear and accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and observations.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals regarding the child’s progress and any concerns.
- Attend and participate in team meetings, case reviews, and training sessions as required.
- **Teamwork and Collaboration**:

- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the children’s home.
- Support and mentor less experienced staff members, providing guidance and assistance as needed.
- Participate in the development and implementation of care plans and support strategies.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; relevant qualifications in childcare, social work, or a related field are preferred.
- Previous experience working with children and young people, particularly in a residential care setting, is advantageous.
- Knowledge of child development, safeguarding procedures, and relevant legislation.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to transport children as needed (if applicable).

- Residential Childcare: 3 years (preferred)
- Support Environment: 2 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Driving Licence (preferred)
- NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care (preferred)
