Job Title: Team Leader - Residential Children’s Home
Hours: Min 37.5 hours - Full Time / As per the needs of the service.
**Job Type**: Permanent
A provider of residential children’s homes. We specialise in caring for young people with high needs, complex behavioural challenges that have previously been considered to have EBD.
**Relationships**
**Important internal relationships**:
- Reports to: Deputy Manager & Registered Manager
- Supervised by: Registered Manager, Deputy Manager, Team Leader
- Residential Care Team - Team Leaders and Support Workers
**Important external relationships**:
- Looked after children and their parents, wider family network and young person's friends
- Other professionals and agencies particularly health, education and the police.
- Neighbours and local residents
**Main Purpose(s) of the job**
To act as a Senior Support Worker for young people and deliver services which facilitate and promote their welfare, safety and development in a variety of environments.
To maintain a nurturing residential environment by staying informed and up to date with childcare legislation, children's homes regulations and quality standards.
To maximise participation in events and create opportunities for young people that allows them to understand and achieve their full potential.
To act as a shift leader by guiding and advising support workers on best care practice and the companies ethos.

**Duties, Responsibilities and Tasks**
- To read, understand, deliver and uphold company policies and procedures at all times
- To possess an In-depth understanding on the looked after child's history and current needs.
- To keep accurate and detailed records relating to the young person and their care plan
- Respect the young person's right to confidentiality
**Cultural expectations**
- To promote equality, diversity, tolerance and an anti-discriminatory practice.
- Record and report safeguarding concerns with immediate effect and encourage whistleblowing.
- Effectively communicate with the wider network of professionals.
**Performance expectations**
- Act as the go to point of contact on shift for support workers
- Be competent with IT skills to ensure documentation is of a high standard.
- To complete shifts as per rota and be punctual.
- Conduct yourself in a professional way when at work. This includes with young people, staff and other professionals.
- To complete a minimum of 2 CPD accredited training courses per month or as directed
- Supporting staff with training and development
- To attend and take part in formal training opportunities, regular staff meetings, reviews and supervisions.
- Read and write daily, weekly and monthly reports
- Create opportunities and new experiences for young people to broaden their horizons
- Deliver informal educational opportunities for young people to learn; life skills / independent living skills
- Monitor and update individualised risk assessments and care plans with new information
- First port of call for arranging or covering shifts in the event of other absence, sickness or disciplinary action
**Day-to-day duties and tasks**
- Oversee finance, procurement and expenditure ensuring it remains within set budgets
- Welcome families and visitors to the house and encourage their involvement
- To plan and carry out domestic duties such as gardening, shopping, cooking, cleaning and housekeeping.
- Ensure the home is a safe environment for all staff, young people and visitors.
- Complete good quality handovers and communicate well with staff young people and any stakeholders.
- Assist young people with their daily independent living skills.
- Give regular feedback and reflection on the support and significant issues in the young person’s day.
- Learn how to access a range of resource material in order to support learning and development.
- Where appropriate fulfil a key working role and or keywork sessions
- Provide transport / supervision on public transport.
- Promoting, Organising and supported young people to attend appointments, school, cultural celebrations, religious celebrations etc.
- IT responsibilities including writing reports, daily logs, car plans, risk assessment’s etc
- Clearly evidence informal education, activities, independent skills and more completed with young people on the computer system.
- To support management with on call duties, as to needs of service.
Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
