London, United Kingdom The Global Institute on Innovation Districts Full time

**Communication lead sought for an impact-focused, global-reaching not for profit organization**

**The Global Institute on Innovation Districts (GIID) is seeking a self
- directed and technology-savvy communication guru to advance our global agenda to new heights. We are a group of dedicated researchers and practitioners ambitiously working together to help take on some of the world’s most daunting challenges. Our work involves advising, connecting, and advancing innovation districts around the world—some of the smartest places on the planet that have the capacity to take on complex challenges, such as climate change, cancer, and infectious diseases.**

At GIID, our team includes a multi-disciplinary group of out-of-the-box thinkers and doers, and we thrive on pushing the limits and constantly proving ourselves. Located in cities around the world, we work together on empirically-led research projects and initiatives, as well as connect dozens of districts worldwide to help them evolve together.

**We’re on the lookout for a strategic, creative, and independent self-starter to join us part
- time and help us revolutionize the way we communicate. **As our communication lead, you will have the power to craft sharp tactics that make our messages soar, while also providing valuable insights and feedback on our thinking and writing. In this role, you’ll work directly with the President of GIID, taking our communication and outreach strategies to new heights.

**Your primary responsibilities will be to**:

- Craft new communication tools to educate and propel leaders—including industry investors—to act with alacrity and focus.
- Review our work and develop sharp, compelling messages for social media and new forms of electronic media that are emerging.
- Creatively connect with traditional media sources to drive a network of news to engage an increasingly diverse audience.
- Collaborate with external content producers, including editors, web and graphic designers, and web developers.
- Coordinate vendor management for web and communications projects.
- Keep us on track by maintaining a comprehensive database of communications contacts.

**Preferred qualifications**:

- A minimum of three to five years of experience working in communications in fast
- paced environments.
- Effective communication skills in written, verbal, and visual formats, tailored for an international audience.
- Recognized by others for strong writing skills with the capacity to sharpen important observations and details rather than provide “watered-down” summaries.
- Detail oriented and someone with a creative flair.
- Proven ability to self-organize, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Creative approach to problem-solving and a can-do attitude, with a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Technology, technology, technology - experience working fluently in specific programs and software (see below) along with social media.
- Excellent command of the US/UK English language; proficiency in a second language is a plus.
- Experience working globally and/or with remote teams is highly desired.
- Ability to travel for occasional in-person meetings.**Must-have technical skills**:

- Proficiency in WordPress for managing online presence.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including the use of these tools for remote collaboration.
- Experience managing social media channels, such as LinkedIn and Twitter.
- Basic graphic design skills, using software like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or similar.
- Knowledge of MailChimp or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with project management tools like Asana.
- Experience with AirTable or similar database management software is preferred.

Ultimately, we seek individuals that want to use their command in communication to help convey important but frustratingly hidden messages to a diverse set of audiences. We work passionately in this fast evolving field and seek someone with a similar mind and spirit.

**Further information**:
We are seeking a part-time professional, giving them the flexibility to advance other goals and dreams while helping us soar. For part-time, earnings are based on experience in the range of USD $60,000-65,000 FTE. This is a contract position. This position is remote with 15-30% of work outside of normal business hours, given the global nature of the organization. Business hours are based on Central European Time. Work schedule to be developed upon hire.

**To apply**:
**Portfolio must include examples of written and visual content, as well as examples of social media posts and newsletters crafted by the applicant.**

Applications reviewed on a rolling basis. We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Part-time hours: 20 per week

**Salary**: £47,000.00-£51,000.00 per year

**Experience**:

- Social media management: 3 years (preferred)
