My client is a well-established manufacturer of high-quality cables. As a business they have been operating for over 100 years and have developed a brilliant reputation.
They are currently recruiting for Business Improvement Engineers to join the business. Reporting into the BI & CI Manager, the Business Improvement Engineer will contribute effectively to the operation of the site by taking responsibility for process improvement,identification of process control metrics, monitoring and action to prevent and/or correct process & quality issues. Perform technical investigation of complaints related to product and process issues.
Responsible for the support of ongoing production activities and participation in the development of new innovations and technologies.
Collaborate with the Engineering (Site Electrical and Mechanical Support Engineers) in designing and executing new process & product introduction
The role requires a pro-active individual who can be task orientated to meet the needs of the position as well as being encouraged to continually pursue a continuous improvement process in quality and productivity.

**Business Improvement Engineer**
Delivery of business improvements defined in the company’s Business Plan:

- Reducing process variability by improving technology.
- Improving process variability by best practises introducing Standard Operations and Standard Operating Set points.
- Reducing scrap and improving OEE across the entire site using business improvement and Six Sigma methods.
- Analyse and implement remedial actions in response to major processing problems occurring within manufacturing ensuring that effective countermeasures are put in place and checked for sustainability.
- Design of tooling and factory-based improvement designs using computer aided design package.
- Management of documented system for production and maintenance engineering design drawings.
- Improve OEE by implementing how process capabilities can be measured and audit these processes to ensure continual and sustained improvement.
- Source suitable and cost-effective equipment; install and commission and cascade effective learning and knowledge to the front-line teams.
- Monitor and achieve savings identified through the introduction of new equipment and processes.
- Project Management involving the fundamentals of Gantt charts, budget control and design stages.
- Participation of installation, commissioning, and training of new equipment.
Responsible for all Standard Operating Procedures on site ensuring compliance to best practice, safe working systems and compliance to Health and Safety legislation
- To manage the Standard Operating Procedures on site.
- Promote the SOPs across the Business.
- Compile new SOP’s where equipment process or procedures change.
- Reviews SOPs on site and ensure compliance to current Health and Safety legislation.
- Implement changes to SOP’s following an accident investigation.
- To carry out Audits to ensure that procedures are followed.
- To Support the company in defending Employer Liability claims by compiling all technical documentation to work closely with the Human Resources Department and BT Legal to compile evidence to defend claims.
- Control all documents to ISO9001, ISO14001, and OHSAS 18001 standards and to support business in achieving BASEC certification and approval.
- Ensure that all procedures are documented following on from Business Improvement Events, and are
- Completed within the 30-day time frame of the completion of the Event.
- Working closely with the Manufacturing Management Team to develop procedures to achieve key manufacturing targets.

Quality Improvement:

- Analyse and implement remedial actions in response to internal quality failures, non-conforming product, scrap, QRQC and supplier concerns.
- Implement methods that increase RFT compliance through the elimination of dependence on product & process inspection.
- Support the internal Quality Audit System ensuring the timely completion of internal audits as well as the provision of information in support of Basec external audits.
- Testing of key products to satisfy customer requests and on-site visits.

Assisting the Business Improvement Team Leader in the day-to-day management of the business improvement programme:

- New product introduction.
- Technological improvements.
- Process improvement sustainment.
- Process documentation development and maintenance.
- Work within the Business Improvement Team to document key process changes.
- Working with all members of the Business Improvement team to assist in the continuous improvement of the business systems and processes to ensure best practice is consistently applied
- To liaise and support employees to establish Best Practice

**Qualification/ Experience/ Skills**
**Business Improvement Engineer**:

- Experience preferably in a manufacturing environment with excellent customer service skills.
- Working for an engineering business that would be
- Sound ability to interpret and analyse data in a result orientated environment.
- Self-motivated, flexible, able to work on own initiative and under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal skills, influencing skills and sound decision-making ability.
- A further qualification in engineering would be desirable
