This is a crucial role ensuring that our services and teams of volunteers are running smoothly and that our systems and databases are well organised.
You will be the first point of contact for most people dealing with the Church, so you’ll need a friendly, approachable, professional manner.
We’re looking for someone, who will demonstrate initiative, in-depth experience of office organisation and systems, excellent IT skills and a “can do” attitude, and will thrive working with and contributing to a friendly and supportive pastoral team and a thriving, growing community church.
You will be expected to review, develop and implement processes and procedures to ensure smooth, efficient and effective Church office operations
**Responsibilities**:
- Managing daily operations and maintaining office supplies and records.
- Coordinating, planning, and executing church events.
- Handling church communications and publications, creating and distributing information and newsletters.
- Assisting with scheduling meetings, renting church equipment and facilities, and enforcing church policies for facility use.
- Building and maintaining relationships with the congregation and community.
- Ordering of supplies - e.g. stationery, communion, cleaning etc
- Assistance to pastoral/ministry teams as required
- Coordinate service teams for Sunday
services - build and maintain rotas, contact people who are on the rota each week
- Provide administrative support for arranging baptisms, funerals and weddings, including dealing with enquiries, bookings, registers, certificates, payments etc.
- Assist with planning and administration for seasonal events (e.g. Christmas, Easter, Mothering Sunday etc)
- Assist with the implementation of health and safety, data protection and safeguarding policies, practices and action plans.
**Skills/Competencies**:
- A minimum of 2 years' office or administrative experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills and ability to operate office equipment.
- Ability to handle stress and problem solve.
- Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
- A commitment to representing the church community with a high level of integrity and morality.
- Serving as a liaison between the pastor, church staff, and congregation, and facilitating communication and collaboration among these groups.
- Assisting with the planning and execution of church events, such as weddings, funerals, and other special services.
- Attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to internal and external contacts at all levels
- Excellent communication skills - verbally and in writing, good presentation skills
- Highly organised & able to manage & prioritise workload
- Numerate
- Understanding of confidentiality

This post carries a genuine occupational requirement that the holder be a practising Christian under Part 1 of Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010.
