As a Lead VolCap Tech Artist, you will work with a team that is pioneering new forms of storytelling, creating mixed reality content for film, games, sports, music videos, fashion, and metaverse experiences. Our studios are based in the UK (London and Newcastle), while our mobile stages operate worldwide. Recent hits include the industry-shifting Balenciaga “Afterworld: The Age of Tomorrow” game and the out-of-this-world Coldplay x BTS “My Universe” hologram video, and star-studded feature films Bullet Train (Sony Pictures), Pinocchio (Disney) and I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Whitney Houston Biopic).

**Lead VolCap Tech Artist - Role Summary**

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Tech Artist with 5+ years of industry experience to assist our existing volumetric capture post-production team. We are looking for a motivated and dedicated professional who is interested in technical innovations and handling state-of-the-art creative solutions for digital content creation.

The position will sit within our growing Volumetric Capture Tech Art team responsible for processing, polishing, and delivery of all of our volumetric content for numerous platforms, including virtual production (feature films and episodic), VFX, AR, and VR.

**Lead VolCap Tech Artist - Responsibilities**:

- Hands on delivering projects
- Managing the day to day workload of the other artists.
- Tracking and documenting progress of projects, and reporting to the department Lead.
- Identifying efficiencies and improved workflows.
- Advising the artists on best practice.
- Ensuring all content leaving the department meets our quality expectation.
- Documenting new workflows and toolsets.
- Solve complex technical issues during post production

Your focus will be to support the lead artist, by assuming day to day responsibility for our small team of artists through various challenging projects, provide support in training and development as well as participate in RnD projects and testing new softwares on the ever changing market. You will work closely with other creative and management divisions of Dimension, including production, on set services, motion capture, and animation teams.

**Essential skills for the Lead VolCap Tech Artist**
- 2 + years experience leading a team within the visual effects/game design field.
- 5 + years experience within visual effects/game design involving 3D assets.
- Experience within the VFX or the games industry, with team leadership responsibilities.
- Experience with Houdini, with main toolsets in SOPs, TOPs, COPs.
- Experience in Nuke or general compositing knowledge, in software such as After Effects/Fusion
- Adobe Photoshop.
- Experience with team and project management and task assignment, as well as great interpersonal skills in dealing with different creative and technical teams.

**Desirable skills for the Lead VolCap Tech Artist**
- Adobe Premiere Pro/After Effects.
- Unreal Engine or Unity.
- Basic VFX and Python programming skills.
- Interest in character design and knowledge in creating game assets.
- An understanding of 3D pipelines and formats.
- Knowledge about CG lighting, basic rendering and materials setup.
- A good understanding of colourSpace and depth, common CGI file formats and encoding.
- Experience in researching and developing technical tools for a project and creating new tools in collaboration.
- Proven ability to ensure artists’ work is of a high standard on both technical and creative levels.
- Ability to thoroughly document, prototype, and improve the existing documentation.
- Creative mindset and ability to overcome technical challenges, troubleshooting and logging errors.
- Basic comprehension of photography or photogrammetry workflows.

Prior experience of volumetric capture technologies isn’t essential. We’ll train you to use Microsoft’s proprietary render software, and provide you with the technical know-how required to be a success. We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate an existing knowledge base of 3D pipelines and toolsets, including proficiency within Houdini which is where our volumetric post production tool set lives. We don’t expect you to know anything about volumetric content, we’ll teach you, but previous experience supervising a team is essential.
