**Job summary**:
The Group Risk supports the Department, the Group and key stakeholders in understanding and managing of risk. It is headed by the Chief Risk Officer and is formed of specialist risk professionals from different backgrounds performing a second line of defence role, independent from the front line of the organisation.

The Group Risk team’s core responsibilities are:

- Custodians of the Department’s risk management framework.
- Maintain risk oversight of the Department’s DG-led portfolios, its delivery partners and Arm’s Length Bodies (‘ALB’).
- Review risk management information, including the performance of controls and mitigations.
- Review the outcomes of risk assessments and management strategies, holding risk owners to account for addressing potential issues identified.
- Provide expert support and guidance to the Department’s teams on risk management, in relation to policies and operations, including development of the risk learning offer.
- Hold the relationships with risk leads across Government, ALBs and delivery partners, creating and maintaining value-adding networks.
- Identify risk capability gaps and commission initiatives to address these gaps.
- Manage the risk and issues information IT system for the Department to ensure there is a reporting avenue for concerns, threats, and problems.

Risk Management Officer will support a range of key second line enterprise risk management activities, underpinning the broader risk management framework for this vital Government Department.

**Job description**:
**Departmental Risk**
- Engage in embedding all aspects of the Risk Framework in the Department, including the tools such as Risk Registers, Risk appetites, Risk system - RADAR and create accurate and engaging Risk reporting;
- Business partnering with DLUHC colleagues as needed to support risk initiatives, respond to queries and promote the work of the team;
- Support the enterprise risk team in developing and managing its day-to-day risk management activities, affording you an opportunity to learn about all facets of risk the Department faces. You will actively seek out and share experience to develop understanding and knowledge of own work and of team’s business area, and participate in ad-hoc projects across the Group Risk function.
- Review documents, providing briefing to senior colleagues;
- Update financial risk models, including assumptions;
- Support 2nd line reviews and challenge of credit and investment risk profile of DLUHC Group financial transaction programmes with senior policy and finance leads;
- Support the culture of the Risk team and the wider Department and promote a good risk management process, working with stakeholders across the Department to ensure key messages are understood and that the impression of the Risk team is a helpful, constructive, and professional one;
**Data and Information management**:

- Continuously improve the flow of risk-related data from across the DLUHC Group, including risk communication and storage of information;
- Support the team in designing end-to-end data management and quality processes and designing and managing master data;
- Support the team in establishing processes to assess and report on the quality of data, systems, processes, and products. Evaluate quality against established data management quality standards, taking steps to address quality issues.

- This role would suit someone who is able to flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working in a hybrid fashion in what is a complex business environment with competing priorities.
- The work is varied across Group risk and the ability to quickly adapt to changing situations is important - as is working with a host of stakeholders from a wide range of disciplines. You will have confidence in your own judgement when considering what the most appropriate response to an issue or risk is while recognising when to seek senior support.
- You will have excellent organisational skills to allow you to manage multiple pieces of work across several areas at once and at pace. You will be an effective all-round communicator, equally comfortable talking to senior officials and a range of stakeholders both inside and outside government, such as Arm’s Length Bodies and Auditors.
