Out of Hours Dispatcher

An exciting opportunity to work within the Dorset Out of Hours Service as a Dispatcher, which forms part of Dorset Integrated urgent Care Services.

The role involves supporting our clinicians during the evenings, weekends, and overnights. You will be responsible for allocating resources based on patient needs while taking into consideration service demand. You will be joining a brilliant team who are hard working, proactive and patient focused.

This role is varied, and no shift is the same, you will need to have brilliant decision-making skills and be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate with both patients and healthcare professionals.

**We have two shifts available on a bi-weekly rota**:
**Week One**: No Shifts

**Week Two**: Thursdays 23:59-0759

Saturday 18:30-0700

These shifts will attract an unsocial enhancement in addition to the basic salary. Please see Section 2, Agenda for Change Framework for enhanced shift details.

Once training and consolidation has been completed, there will be an opportunity to work from home.

To autonomously manage and deploy resources in emergency, urgent and routine cases in accordance with national and local policy, procedure and
protocol. This may include Doctors, Emergency Care Practitioners (ECP),
Nurses and Dental Clinicians.

Manage and communicate with operational staff by assigning them to
emergency, urgent and routine cases in accordance with the National Quality Standards. This may involve negotiations with clinicians with regards to complex patient cases where cooperation is needed between the dispatcher and clinician.

Plan and organise a constantly changing workload. This often involves

Allocation of resources must be conducted in a timely manner and the
dispatcher should ensure that the patient receives care by an appropriate
clinician.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
