About the team:
The **Group Head of First Line Risk and Control **for Operations is a brand new role reporting into the Deputy Chief Controls Officer, has direct line management accountability and responsibility for a larger multi-site team. The Operations Control and Assurance function are a specialist team, who provide independent assurance across the Operational 1LoD through assurance monitoring, and customer outcomes testing. This role will ensure that the processes are in place to assess and monitor the Ops 1LoD control environment, and interaction with the 2LoD, escalating areas of concern outside of risk appetite and ensure remediation activities are established and delivered.

This role has the flexibility to be based from our Wolverhampton or Chatham offices with occasional travel required.

What you will be doing:
control for Ops 1LoD, predominantly, focusing on Quality Assurance, Outcomes Based Testing and RCSA.

Your responsibilities will include
- Lead and present the Ops1LoD control environment, reporting key information to appropriate governance forums, 2LoD, Exec and Board meetings (as and when required).
- Manage cross-functional control initiatives to assess, oversee and maintain the Group’s Risk Appetite across Ops1LoD
- Ownership for the, design, delivery and execution of the Group’s Ops1LoD assurance approach and strategy
- Develop a Dashboard with key metrics to ensure the Operations SMF has a clear vision of the Control Environment for Operations
- Drive use of analytics in refining approach to QA testing

In return for your commitment:
We offer a salary of c£80,000 dependent on experience and location in addition to a competitive benefits package:

Could you be the one?:
We are looking for talented individuals who have the experience and knowledge set out below:

- Proven experience of leading and successfully embedding / overseeing RCSA and Outcome Based Testing across 1LOD ideally in a banking or financial services environment
- Senior Management experience of working in a 1st or 2nd line control and assurance teams AND/OR within 3rd line Internal Audit function
- Specialist knowledge and understanding of Consumer Duty and outcomes-based testing, risk control self-assessment and quality framework development
- Expert in provide risk advice to 1LOD Ops Functions using applicable industry best practice and regulatory expectations
- Strong track record of leading and developing high performing teams across multiple sites
- Excellent attention to detail and ability communicate complex information to a wide audience
