The Department of Health’s strategy for mental health includes the drive to ensure that those with mental health conditions have access to recovery focused interventions, including support to gain meaningful, paid employment and to maintain this.

Through team expansion an opportunity has arisen to work within LPFT’s Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Team as a Mental Health Employment Specialist, working with service users in the Adult Community Division to help them with their employment goals.

The post holders will provide Individual Placement and Support to a caseload of service users mainly in defined localities within Lincolnshire but cover for other geographical areas covered by the Trust may be required if the need arises.

This posts require both enthusiasm and a commitment towards supporting people with mental health conditions to retain and access paid employment. This includes working collaboratively with a wide range of employers and relevant agencies and partners from the statutory, voluntary and business sectors, internal and external to the Trust.

To provide a specialist clinical service, autonomously managing a caseload of service users to enable them to meet their employment needs using the Individual Placement Support (IPS) model. This includes working collaboratively with colleagues in LPFT teams and with a wide range of employers/ employment providers; relevant agencies and partners from the statutory, voluntary and business sectors, internal and external to the Trust on behalf of service users.

Follow the IPS model and collate evidence that this is ongoing to maintain fidelity for internal and external fidelity reviews.

Support service users on a case by case basis to either find and maintain paid employment, or to retain existing employment.

Support service users to identify and meet their vocational goals by providing individually tailored programs using a person-centered approach.

Attending interviews, Occupational Health reviews, disciplinary meetings and other workplace meetings for follow-on or retention support.

Identifying reasonable adjustments and other workplace adaptations.

Actively and regularly engage with employers and employment providers and seek out employment opportunities for service users.

Carry out industry walks where you will engage with a minimum of six employers (per full time Employment Specialist) on a weekly basis.

Proactively address barriers to employment, education and training through partnership working with a variety of services.

Ensure effective communication with CMHT colleagues and relevant organisations internal and external to the Trust. Signposting or referring service users to these organisations where required.

Ensure that service users are supported to progress through the service in a timely manner and are discharged / signposted / referred on at appropriate stages of their treatment.

Make regular written and verbal reports concerning the progress of service users and maintain written electronic records as per Trust policy using the Trust’s clinical information system.

Attend and actively contribute to team meetings and peer supervision.

Attend and actively contribute to weekly CMHT team meetings as a way of collaborative working around the individuals you support, promoting the service and providing any service updates.

Present to internal and external stakeholders.

Maintaining individual caseload, caseload data, diary and spreadsheets.

Contribute positively to the achievement of service targets and outcomes to achieve commissioners requirem
